There is a time and a place for singing. It is perfectly alright to sing when you are at home, for example. While you are cleaning up the kitchen after dinner, you might decide to listen to the radio to make your work more fun. As you wash dishes, you might hear a song that you like, such as "Just Give Me a Reason" by Pink. Go ahead and sing along, if you want to. You are at home, and you should feel comfortable to do what you want in your own home. At home, the only people who will hear you are your family members. There are other places where singing is alright, of course.
At church, singing is encouraged. Join the congregation in singing the opening, offertory, Communion, or closing hymns. If you join in, you will be singing with a group. Therefore, you do not need to feel self-conscious. You do not need to worry about how you sound. Churches do not expect you to be professionally trained. They just want you to participate in the service. You can participate by singing.
You might also sing while you shop. Stores often play music over their public address systems in order to make visitors' shopping experiences more pleasant. If you hear a song that you like, and you want to sing along, it should be alright. Sing softly to yourself as you browse the cereal aisle in the grocery store, for example. Look for good prices on the cereals you want. Other shoppers standing near you may overhear you singing and may smile, particularly if they like the song that you are singing. They will not likely complain, however. Generally, they will go on with their shopping. You might also sing while flying.
If there is a plane trip in your future, singing may help to calm your nerves. Sing whatever you like, but sing softly to yourself. If you sing loudly, you risk being kicked off the plane. If you do get kicked off the plane, you will have to find another way to get to your destination. If you sing softly, however, you should be allowed to stay on the plane. You will not be disturbing other passengers, which will allow them to talk, read, or sleep without interference.
If you can sing, congratulations. Singing is a gift. Share it at appropriate times, such as when you get together with family or friends at Christmas. You can join your loved ones and perhaps go caroling around your neighborhood. Sing with them. Do not try to outdo them by singing louder than they are singing. By listening to those around you, you will create a beautiful sound that others will enjoy listening to. If you want to sing loudly and sing alone, however, do not despair.
Consider auditioning for the next season of "The Voice". You will need to sing loudly so that the coaches can hear you, and you will be singing alone. Think about signing up for an audition. Then, look forward to a chance at stardom.
