Randy Travis Looking Forward to A Better Future

Randy Travis – A Bad Year in 2012

Randy Travis, a country music singer who has sold more than 20 million records, got into trouble several times this past year, and some of the events involved excessive use of alcohol. He had gone through a nasty divorce from Elizabeth Hatcher, and she continued to be his business manager after the divorce. Before his divorce, he seemed to be a success in life.

Personal success is based on many things. He may have done well with his music career. However, his life seemed to be going downhill during the year of 2012.

Based on his arrest shortly after the Super Bowl and an incident where he crashed his car through some barricades earlier this year, alcohol was ruining his life. He allegedly threatened the police after crashing his Trans Am and was arrested, and alcoholics tend to have anger issues. He was probably an alcoholic or he was headed down toward that path. His lawyer said he gave up alcohol, and hopefully, his fitness program and his relationship with his girlfriend will help him to focus on his career again.

He blamed his alcohol use after the Super Bowl on celebrating too much and on an argument with his girlfriend. At that time, he wasn’t hurting anyone except himself. The police found him parked outside a church with alcohol in his car. Early in August, he crashed his car, and he was allegedly threatening the police. He was arrested for that incident, which was pretty serious. He was charged with a misdemeanor assault later in August, and he was allegedly protecting his girlfriend. He pled not guilty to that incident.

He seemed to be in a good mood when he left the courtroom. According to his lawyer, Peter Schulte, he wished the people who were at the courtroom a merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year. The trial date was set for March 11, 2013.

He supposedly gave up alcohol and is on an exercise program. He is likely to experience personal success when he stays away from alcohol and gets help with his personal issues. I hope he also got some counseling either from a church or a secular professional to deal with his anger issues and excessive use of alcohol. He might have anger issues related to his divorce from Elizabeth Hatcher, who also happened to be his business manager. He is more likely to succeed if he keeps busy while taking care of his personal problems.
