Boost The Immune System With Nutrients That Fight Cancer

Our body’s immune system is absolutely vital for overall health and wellness. It is our immune system that heals our cuts and wounds, that cures us of infections and diseases, and keeps other important organs and metabolic processes working smoothly. Our immune system works non-stop 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Keeping the white blood cells of our immune system strong with the nutrients that fight cancer will also help to ward off other diseases and infections.

HOW TO PROMOTE A STRONG IMMUNE SYSTEM

Living a healthy lifestyle will go a long way to a strong defense. When our body’s army is at full strength the enemies (infections, cancer and other diseases) are kept under control. Unfortunately too many people take their immune system for granted and routinely do things to weaken it.

Eating a diet high in saturated fats found in meat and trans fats in fried and processed foods will weaken the immune system over time. These harmful fats actually stimulate cancer tumor growth. On the other hand omega-3 essential fatty acids found in cold water fish will actually suppress cancer cell growth.

What foods fight cancer? Eating cold water fish at least 3 times a week helps tremendously in boosting the immune system in fighting cancer. If you don’t like the taste of fish or can’t eat fish 3 times a week, take a Fish Oil supplement with both EPA and DHA fatty acids. Personally I eat wild caught salmon twice a week and take 2 fish oil gel-caps once or twice a day to help make up the difference.

Who is vitamin D deficient? Pretty much all of us are. So take plenty of Vitamin D3, which is also shown in clinical trials to boost the strength of the immune system. I take 1,000 IU every other day during the spring and summer months and 5,000 IU every day during the fall and winter. The reason I only take 1,000 IU every other day during the spring and summer is because I can get 20-30,000 IU of vitamin D for free from the sun.

I also take a supplement of Sulforaphane, which is the bio-active compound in broccoli that gives broccoli its anti-cancer powers. I also brew and drink Green Tea a couple of times a week. I eat lots of legumes (beans & peas) and mostly juice my vegetables and fruits in my juicer. Plus it is also quite helpful to take an antioxidant-rich daily multivitamin & mineral supplement.

THEY DON’T JUST FIGHT CANCER

All of these food and supplement choices don’t just fight cancer but they also boost the strength of the immune system. Antioxidants have health benefits for so many things. If you can ingest antioxidants from both foods and supplements you will be supporting the strength of our body’s army. The more antioxidants you consume the better off you will be.

With all of the disease-causing ingredients in the foods and drinks we consume, especially from all of the fast food and junk foods people like to scarf down, it is no wonder why people are so sick. Taking most prescription drugs also contribute to increased risk of diseases. Have you ever just listened to the side effects of the prescription drugs that are promoted on TV? The negative side effects are worse than the condition that they are supposed to treat. THAT IS INSANE!

GET YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM THE TOOLS IT NEEDS

Take control of your health and boost your immune system with the nutrients it needs from food and supplements chock full of antioxidants. Light to moderate exercise is also another great way to boost immunity. A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine of more than 25,000 women reported that breast cancer risk was the lowest in women who exercised at least four hours per week. There was also a long-term Swedish study of more than a million men which also found similar protective benefits against colon cancer.

Between healthy food choices, antioxidant-rich supplements and exercise, you can strengthen your immune system so you can not only prevent the cold and flu viruses but cancer as well. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise because it is not their health that is at stake, it is yours. This is the mindset I have had for 26 years and it has served me, and some in my family, quite well.
