If you are anything like me, then growing up you were introduced to vitamins by the Flintstones. You know the ones. They were chewable and came in the shapes of Fred and the gang. Then we got older and it was time to swallow pills. However, there are more and more people that are fed up with swallowing those 'horse pills' for vitamins. The solution is simple. Take daily complete liquid vitamins to get the vitamins your body needs.
Hold your horses! Let's take a look at how effective vitamins are in the liquid form. There are two sides of the coin here as to whether the liquid form of vitamins are effective or not. Let's start with 'heads'.
Increased Rate of Digestion
The traditional vitamin pill is made by compressing the contents using high pressure. These highly compressed pills are not easily digested or absorbed. Studies have shown that only about 15% of the total vitamin content of these pills are absorbed into the body.
By suspending vitamins and minerals in liquid, it only makes sense that the absorption rates would be increased. Scientists have shown that liquid vitamins have an absorption rate as high as 98 percent. Great news for those that have trouble swallowing pills.
Now it's time to flip the coin and see what the other side has to say about liquid vitamins.
Is Stomach Acid an Issue?
Here it is in a nutshell. Yes, the liquid form of vitamins absorb just great, but are these liquid vitamins passing through the stomach unscathed? Many nutritionists stand by the theory that the unprotected vitamins are broken down in stomach acid and do not provide the body with the full effect.
This little wrinkle maybe why certain vitamins do not make it to the absorption point in the small intestines, because stomach acid breaks them down into non-vitamin elements.
So the debate rages on between the experts. Which is better and more effective, liquid or pill vitamins?
Personal Preferences
This is where you will have to make your own decision as to which form of vitamin works for you. Armed with the knowledge about the liquid vitamin debate may not be enough. The body can be a great indicator as to which form of vitamins are more effective.
If you are currently taking 'horse pills' and want to flip the coin to see if taking daily complete liquid vitamins works for you then make the switch. If you notice a significant difference in energy levels and overall health, you have found your answer.
Hey Mac, this is really interesting stuff. Your landing pages are spot on. Way to go, Bro!
Thanks Lewis! I have been a bit out of the loop lately. Time to get back at it, for sure! Thanks for the great compliment,. my friend
Pretty surprising isn't it? Glad you found the article informative. Makes you want to drink your vitamins!
Exactly, my friend! It's funny to see how many supplements out there are digested into non-usable nutrients by the stomach and then we expect them to be effective. WRONG! Thanks for reading and for your great input. This is precisely the reason that using organic, all natural supplements are the way to go! Our digestive systems are designed to process plants, fruits and vegetables in their natural form.
Seems like a lot of media hype these days saying Vitamin supplements are useless, but it is very apparent that we cannot get vitamins from food. Think about it, they pick oranges/bananas etc before they are ready to eat, to ensure maximum shelf-life, but they don't ensure they get their maximum growth and therefore massively lack vitamins! supplements are the way forward
There is more and more evidence that we need to derive our vitamins from organically grown plants from farms that ensure proper soil nutrients are at proper levels. Many large farm operations do not care. Just add the chemical fertilizer and go for the quantity instead of quality. Whole food vitamins are definitely going to be the way to go and I think science will prove that over time.
Excellent idea, have been taking them in pill form most of my life and some of those get stuck in the throat and leave you uncomfortable until it dissolves. Liquid form now that sounds better. Thanks for the heads up!
You're welcome, Mark. Liquid or chewables are great alternatives, but the jury is still out as to the effectiveness of these vitamins. I am researching whole food vitamins and have found some very interesting concepts that make a ton of sense.
Interesting! Good job getting people thinking. Health is an important and oft disagreed upon thing to achieve.
It's a topic that everyone has an opinion on. Many health conscious people make this their religion and it becomes difficult to talk to them about it! lol Glad you found it interesting, Cynthia!
