I can hear you now! "What is Glutathione and how do I pronounce it? I'm going to answer this by trying not to be too technical so please bear with me.
First of all Glutathione, the new Super Antioxidant is pronounced "Gloota-thigh-own" In an earlier article I wrote titled "Amino Acids Hidden Secrets Part 2", I listed Glutathione not as an Amino Acid but a Tripeptide. This simply means that Glutathione consists of three Amino Acids; Cysteine, Glutamic Acid and Glycine. Although it's not an AA, I listed it because of it's relationship with those 3 Amino Acids. Whew.....Lets get on to some easier verbage.
More studies are showing that Glutathione is a Super Antioxidant. Glutathione is found in most cells in the body but higher concentrations are in the Liver which is the body's main detox organ. It carries free radicals and toxins from the liver where they are discharged through bile. If a person is lacking Glutathione, toxins can pile up and have abnormal effects on the body. It's very possible that low levels of Glutathione contribute to rapid aging and numerous diseases. Just like Hormones that diminish as we get older it appears that Glutathione does too. However, we can supplement these things to aid in weight loss, muscle retention, longevity and cognitive function and the list goes on.
Glutathione can be found in eggs, spinach, Brazil nuts and asparagus. You can also find it in Tablet form and Whey protein. I prefer Whey Protein because it provides all of the Amino Acids needed for building protein. As shown in my earlier articles, different Amino Acids play different roles on the overall health of the body. Having a Whey protein shake between meals and after exercising will not only boost all of the AA's but give you the added Super Antioxidant Glutathione.
Vitamin C the most popular and well known Antioxidant works closely with Glutathione. Vitamin C tablets which are very inexpensive should be supplemented in your diet. Glutathione and Vitamin C are a dynamic duo which fight together to rid the body of free radicals. It appears that the body prefers to use Vitamin C first which allows the body to store up on Glutathione.
My recommendation for Glutathione supplementation is through 100% Whey Protein. Again, you get all of the Amino's you need and Super Anti Oxidants to keep your body healthy and strong. Besides, 100% Whey Protein adds calories between meals which also keeps your metabolism moving.
Nice article. So many product out there, but Have you heard about AC11. I think it is the future in supplements...
