How Do You Eat the Recommended Servings Of Fruits And Vegetables?

The truth is the majority of us do not eat even close to the Recommended Serving of Fruits and Vegetables. It is 5-9 servings of fruits and vegatables daily.

Do you get this many? If you are like most of Americans you just plain DON’T. From what I saw in a new from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, only about 13 percent of Americans eat enough fruit, and 9 percent eat enough vegetables. That is very low but not really a surprise when you think of the amount of fruit and veggies sold at the fast food places. You get maybe lettuce on your hamburger or taco and the children get a serving of fruit IF they chose it for their child meal. I think we need to think about this and how it is actually leading to diseases!

There are some easy ideas of how to incorporate fruits and veggies into our diets.

+ Top your cereal with fruit like strawberries or a banana.

+ Put blueberries in your pancakes.

+ Have salad as the main dish for lunch and make the dressing out of guacamole & olive oil

+ Include chopped vegetables in pasta sauce or lasagna.

+ Make a snack with cut up fruit and veggies. You can add peanut butter or yogurt!

+ For dessert have frozen bananas in a blender for a new ice cream.

The list goes can go on and on. Just look up making snacks and meals with fruits and vegetables. You can really incorporate these ideas into your daily intake and slowly but surely make it up to the recommended serving!
