Pre - Workout Supplements Review

For the majority of us, working out feels great even though it may be draining at times, but if you are anything like me, it feels great after. However, I have a secret, I take pre workout supplements and I avoid the pain and suffering after my workout, or what I call the post workout blues

To make the workout session feel even better and to ensure your body is working at optimum levels, you might want to do as I do and that is take one or more pre workout supplements. Many people are, but if you are not you might want to continue reading.'t

2 Major Do's and 2 Major Don'ts

Okay, so let's just list the 2 major do's and 2 major don'ts of working out in regard to pre workout preparation:

  • Do drink lots of water before your workout. Not all at the same time obviously, but over the hours before you actually start. Water intake should be a common and daily regimen for you. We are all made of water! But a word of caution, stay away from florinated water if you can. Please read about the effects of florinated water and make an informed decision.
  • Do take a supplement before starting your workout. Take it at least 30 mins before you start. Let your body start to absorb it. Pre workout drinks may absorb into the bloodstream faster, just take the time to understand the absorption rate.
  • Don't have a large meal before beginning a workout. You may end up throwing up, or worse, getting cramps. When something like that happens it is your body telling you to stop. Pay attention!
  • Don't consume alcohol or have recently consumed alcohol before beginning a workout. I'm not a prohibitionist, but you would be wise to stop drinking altogether. You will save your body from deterioration, and have money to spend on other things. Hey, if you have the discipline for working out, you have the discipline to do what's best for you.

4 pre workout supplement choices providing considerations to ponder:

  • Pills - Why are you taking it? What is it doing for you? Does it help build, or is it for sustaining the body? When should you take it?
  • Shakes - Check the sugar level boosting properties? Check the ingredients to make sure everything is helpful and not just filler? Do you have any allergy issues?
  • Energy drink - Is it laden with caffeine? Is it specific to your workout, muscle building vs aerobic?
  • Energy bar - What is this really doing for you? When should you eat one? What types of bars/products are good for you? Is it just to boost sugar levels?

You may know of other pre workout drinks, etc., but they are likely associated with a brand of some kind and are specific to a company rather than being generally available from a number of producers.

Be Sure Of Your Pre Workout Supplements

One way to be absolutely sure that what you are taking in supplements is effective and is good for you, is to get yourself a copy of Comparative Guide To Nutritional Supplements, either buy one, or go to your local library. This guide will tell you which products to trust and which not to. I never take anything without first consulting it or some other well regarded informational source. Also, be aware that supplement intake can differ between gender and that the pre workout supplement women should take may not be as effective for men.

Conclusion

If someone is advising you, don't just believe everything they say and go on blind trust, make sure you take the information and then verify for yourself, and that includes what you have just read! There are many people providing advice that is based on hearsay, or ulterior motives (i.e. they are trying to sell you something), rather than verifiable and factual evidence. Be informed, stay informed!
