Vitamins Make Your Hair Grow

Your haircut is so, so bad and now you need your hair to grow extra fast. Are there any vitamins or supplements that can make your hair grow faster?

Hair growth is directly related to your overall health. If you are like most people in the United States, then you don't even come close to consuming the correct amounts of many vitamins and minerals for optimal health. Our fast paced society has us eating fast food and many processed ready-to-eat foods right off the shelf.

If your diet is made up of chips, soda and an occasional donut and coffee then your hair is probably not growing as fast as it should be. Just be aware that taking vitamins and supplements are not a replacement therapy for a terrible diet.

Another consideration is the shampoo and conditioner that you use on your hair. Do you dye your hair? If you want to have fast growing hair then do NOT use harsh shampoos, conditioners or any hair dye. Aggressive shampoos and dyes will dry and damage your hair. Be sure to use organic based shampoos and conditioners because they will allow your natural oils and vitamins to remain in your hair.

Hair Growth Vitamins and Minerals

The short list of vitamins for enhanced hair growth include the following:

  • B Vitamins help to enhance the production of natural oils in the scalp which promotes healthy hair
  • Vitamin A or beta-carotene is an antioxidant which promotes better immunity

Minerals that have an impact on hair growth include copper, zinc and sulfur.

Mother Nature is the best medicine when it comes to optimizing overall health. Eat your fresh fruits and vegetables and meats as well. Proteins are another key ingredient to happy healthy hair. If you can't seem to eat the proper diet, then you should at least investigate using whole food vitamins which are grown organically.

Stay away from vitamins that have ingredients that end in -ates and -ites. These are synthetic vitamins mass produced in factories and are not as effective as the all natural form of vitamins.

One other option that is widely accepted is to use pre-natal vitamins to help grow that beautiful head of hair. Pre-natal vitamins are super charged with vitamins and also are packed with amino acids which the body converts to proteins that are used in hair production. As with the other supplements, be sure to go with organic, all natural form of vitamins which the body will utilize much more effectively.

Don't let that bad haircut get you down. Now you are armed with the proper information to help your hair grow back faster than ever.

Good advice. I just learned about a shampoo called Wen. It's just great. Very gentle. None of those harsh drying detergents. How are you McK? I haven't been around much.

This is so true how vital vitamins are vital to so many aspects of life. What do you find are good natural sources of B vitamins and Vitamin A?

Reply

Oh I would say broad leafy vegetables like spinach and kale with a splash of carrots for the majority of the vitamins for strong healthy hair. In addition, red bell peppers for vitamin C, avocados for vitamin E, cherries for extra iron, and the list goes on. Vegetarians have to be sure to get enough protein which is a building block for hair. You already know this, I bet. I have read your blogs! LOL

I definitely noticed that when I started taking more vitamins and nutrition into my body my hair and my nails were growing faster, not sure how well this works for cells that are already dead though, does it help with hair loss?

A good nutrition and vitamin regiment will not bring hair back, but will stop the hairline from receding anymore than it already has.

Great article, Pat. You're right about diet--it's key to just about everything in our lives. I'll also keep the 'ates and ites' info tucked away for future reference.

Yeah, our bodies are designed to digest things from nature and those -ates and -ites are made by man. Thanks for stoppin' by, my friend.

Sadly, the bad food is the inexpensive stuff. I grew a winter garden but many of the things I grew went into bloom and some of it tastes bitter now. I am on an extremely limited income and I can feel it in my health, well being and happiness. I am also dealing with some sort of fungus infection that is causing dandruff not only on my scalp but on my face too! It started happening in Ohio two years ago and I have not been able to get rid of it. I don't know what I can use that isn't harsh. You wrote the article very well and it reflects the reason why I don't want to use the medicated shampoo on my body. Yours is a great one to share!

Thanks, Daniel. I appreciate you stopping by and for your comments. If you have a fungal infection then melaleuca or tea tree oil will take care of a skin fungal infection.
