We all know keeping up with cleaning your pool is almost a daily chore. You've got to make sure the pool pump is working properly, you have to make sure you have enough pool cleaning chemicals and then of course not to mention the daily task of checking the chlorine levels and topping it up, tiring right? It can seem easy to do while it's Summer when your family are using it all the time, however come Winter, you’re going to start getting slack and forgetting to add chlorine in the pool. Soon it becomes a habit and before you know it your once daily cleaning routine will turn into a fortnightly or monthly and your pool suddenly turns green, got the picture - we've all been there.
That's one of the first reasons to invest in a chlorinator: time and ease
A lot of people often ask us about the investments in a salt water chlorinator and how long will my new salt chlorinator cell last?
There a few things that if not taken care of will shorten the life of your salt chlorinator cell, so let's take a quick look at them:
1. Running the pump for long periods of time on low levels of salt. Good idea to check them and make sure the levels are right.
2. Cleaning the salt chlorinator cell in too strong an acid solution. That's right there is such a thing as over kill for those extra clean people.
3. Not cleaning the cell often enough, (yes they still need to be cleaned) which leads to a build-up of calcium deposits.
Salt water electrolysis cells require little cleaning of the deposits of scale on the nodes but this is a simple task and all you need to do is to be aware to not allow too much build-up of scale.
The setup of salt water chlorinator is pretty straightforward (even for a guy like me), and consists of a hook up to a power source, a cell and a pump line into the chlorinator controls.
So there you have it a few tips on keeping your pool clean whether it be in the hotter months or the colder months, it doesn't have to be hard to maintain your pool to keep it clean. Remember its usually a backdrop to dinner parties or outdoor BBQ's, so you want your pool to be in the best condition possible to show off your outdoor space.
