How to Treat an Infected Tattoo Fast

When you get a tattoo the last thing you want to think about is how to treat an infected tattoo, but there are circumstances where you may need to know the answer. While you are getting your tattoo your skin emits a liquid which forms droplets on the skin. Just like any other cut or scrap you get a tattoo can get infected if it is not properly taken care of. But if you do start to pick at the scabs on your healing tattoo you could end up with some problems.

If there is minor damage to your skin the time for healing your tattoo will depend on how much moisture is in the tattooed area. The top 3 ointment for healing a tattoo are: A & D Ointment (I use this one myself), Petroleum, and Bacitracin Zinc. There is also one called Tattoo Goo that is making a name for itself in the tattoo aftercare market. These products have petroleum in them which accelerates the healing process because the skin becomes impenetrable from water and air which makes for the best healing conditions. If you take care of your tattoo before infection appears you won't have to worry about how to treat an infected tattoo. Now I know that there are circumstances that are out of your control and an infection can form.

When your tattoo is just finished there will be no oozing initially and the surface of your skin will be dry. When the petroleum ointment is put on droplets of fluid appear because your body starts to make exudates. Exudates are important to develop an environment that stimulates wounds to heal faster. A wound that is dry has a higher infection rate then a wound that is moist. If you want to know how to treat an infected tattoo then one of the biggest things is to keep your tattoo from drying out.

Tattoos can get infections for many reasons and if you have an infected tattoo you need to treat it as soon as possible. But how will you know if your tattoo is infected. If your tattooed area has increased pain, redness, swelling, or it is tender then your tattoo might have an infection.

If you don't catch the infection in your tattoo fast enough then you could end up with bigger problems. This infection could spread to other areas like your joints, bones, or it might become sepsis. Sepsis is an infection that effects your whole body.

If you do get an infection in your tattoo you will need to see a doctor. They can give you the proper antibiotic to cure the infection. Don't ruin your perfect tattoo. Take care of your tattoo the proper way and don't worry about how to treat an infected tattoo. Talk to your tattoo artist about how to properly take care of your tattoo and stop infection before it starts.
