Pin Up Girl Tattoos – Bettie Page

Bettie Mae Page first became famous for her pin-up photos when she debuted in the 19050s. She is now frequently referred to as the Queen of Pinups and is features as one of the most popular pin up tattoos to date, everything from her deep blue eyes to here stark black has continues to inspired artists to this day. While in her early life she did a lot of modeling, including being one of the early Playmates of the Month as Miss January 1955, but as time progressed her life shifted away from modeling and she fell into a deep state of depression.

Modern Pin Up Girl Tattoos and Girls

When we think about the modern pin up girls tattoos, we think about the risqué physique and the questionable poses that they are in, but the fact of the matter is that this was all started back in the 1950s, Bettie Page being one of the first pin up girls to be a little more exposed than others. He look has led to a lot of inspiration for modern day artist and tattoo artist that want to give unique images that remain iconic.

Bizarre Images

Some are surprised when they learn that Bettie Page did a lot of working with Bondage and Sadomasochistic themes when she was working with the photographer Irving Klaw for over four years. It may even be the reason that she is often featured in tattoos with whips and tight leather or rubber clothing. Believe it or not, one of the most iconic images of Betty page is here featured in a web of ropes, this amazing model did more than just look beautiful, she posed for some bizarre images that were even less accepted back than then they are now.

The Revival of Pin Ups

In the 1980s not just Page but many pin up girls began to see a resurgance of popularity, but Page was a main focus. The spotlight was so heavily on page because from 1976 onward, books were consistently being published with features of here photographs, one author even based a novel’s main character off of Page herself. Into recent years pin up girl tattoos and clothing have become more and more commonplace, and it doesn’t look like they are going to be leaving anytime soon.

Pin up girls and pin up girl tattoos have been forever changed by the face of Betty Page, and they are here to stay for good!
