A Simple Way To Remove Your Fears

I’m going to begin this article in a way I’ve never started one before. I’m going to use and discuss the “f” word. No! Not THAT f word, but another one that I think is actually worse. What is that dreaded word? It is….fear.

Why is fear so bad? After all, it can protect you, right? Yes, there are natural fears that we need to have for our protection. However, I am talking about unneccessary fears that we develop in our own minds. This fear is harmful for several reasons. One is that it prevents you from taking action. Another is that it negatively affects your mindset. Instead of focusing on faith and accomplishment, you focus on worry and procrastination. The bottom line is that it stops you from moving forward to accomplish your goals and becoming the person you are destined to be.

So how do you remove these fears, some of which have been a part of you for a long time? I will share a very simple method that I’ve been using since I was a teenager. It completely removed fears I had then, and continues to work today. Before I explain the process, I will share the story…

When I was 14 years old, I read the book “The Amityville Horror”. I was never affected by scary stories before. That is, until I read this one. I believe the story hit me hard because of its spiritual realm, and because I only lived about 15 minutes from Amityville. This book caused two great fears: For the first time in my life, I was actually afraid of the dark. I also had a major fear of waking up at 3:15 am (that was the time all of the bad things happened in the book). I was embarrassed. I was never afraid of the dark as a child, but now at 14 it scared me? And I couldn’t spend any more evenings going to bed in fear that I would wake up at the dreaded time. How could I cure this fear?

At that time my father had a book about self-hypnosis. I had read part of the book and used self-hypnosis for self-improvement in some areas of my life. The book also had a chapter about using hypnosis to conquer fears using a concept called desensitization. This was perfect for my situation. I used the suggestions in this chapter, and within 2 weeks I was completely cured of my fears.

Since this time, I have used desensitization to cure myself of other fears. What exactly is desensitization? It is simply imagining yourself conquering your fears. It’s as simple as that. The book suggested seeing myself doing the thing I feared over and over again, without anything bad happening. Following this advice, I would hypnotize myself, and then see myself walking in the dark and being awake at 3:15 am over and over again, without any negative consequences. This simple process helped completely eliminate the fear in a short period of time.

I suggest this method to anyone to help conquer fears. You don’t even have to completely hypnotize yourself. Just find a few quiet minutes each day. Then, whatever your fear, imagine yourself doing the very thing(s) you are afraid of. See it happening over and over. See that nothing bad is happening. In fact, it’s all good! The key is that your subconscious mind will start to believe it. Your subconscious cannot tell the difference between a real or imagined event. As you continue to watch yourself conquer your fears, your mind will believe at as true, and you will act accordingly. If you follow this process consistently, you will see your fears disappear.

The amount of time it takes to completely remove the fear will depend on how deeply it is embedded in your subconscious, and how consistently you follow this process. Regardless, I can tell you first hand that it works. I strongly recommend you try it for yourself. Then watch your fears and lack of action turn to confidence and accomplishment. Enjoy the success!
