"Can I lose weight with hypothyroidism?" Of course you can. I know that historically people with thyroid disorders have more difficulty losing weight, but you can lose it. I have had a thyroid disorder for the past 25 years, so I know the struggles. What I have learned, though, is that most of us aren't given the correct tools to be successful. Let me tell you a little bit about what I have been through.
I am the person who has tried every diet program out there and thousands of dollars with it. On mostof the plans I was able to lose some weight. On every diet, I always reached a point where no matter what I tried, I couldn't lose anymore weight. Then I would get frustrated and quit. Maybe you can relate to this, maybe not? Then I would assume that I needed to try a different route and I would be then searching for the next diet program, thinking this will be the one that will make me lose the weight I wanted.
What you need to know, though, is that because you have a metabolic disorder, you need tohaveyour thyroid levelschecked before you start anything. The guidelines have changed recently and a lot of people are not taking enough medication now. Once you get your dosages checked and, if necessary, changed, you will be ready to start. The reason this is so important is because it affects your metabolism. If you are not at an optimum level with your metabolism, then you will be making the weight loss more difficult and maybe impossible for yourself.
The next key point that I have learned about losing weight is that you have to make adjustments. Remember how I said that after a certain point on every dietI wasn't losing any weight? Well the reason is that as you lose weight, your caloric needs change. If you don't change what you are consuming when your body's caloric needs change, then you won't lose anything. This is what none of the expensive diets explained to me. There is information about this in a program called Strip That Fat and this program has been the key to my success. You need to determine what your resting metabolic rate is and you work your food intake around this number. As you lose weight, you have torecalculate this rate and adjust your diet.
These are the two most important things that I have learned in my quest to lose weight. "Can I lose weight with hypothyroidism?" Yes you can and you don't need to starve yourself to do it. Take the time to check your thyroid levels and then read about the resting metabolic rates. Once you understand how it all works, you will have no problems losing andcontrolling your weight.
