If you are asking the question "how can I lose weight with a thyroid problem?"I might be able to help. Why? Because I have had an underactive thyroid for the past 25 years and I used to have problems with my weight. Idid what you very well maybe doing right now, tryingevery diet program out. Let me tell you that it is not worth the money.
I spent thousands of dollars on all of the big name diet programs. I followed their instructions exactly every time. On every diet, I would lose a few pounds in the beginning, but then I would get stuck and couldn't lose anymore. Well, let me share with you what I have learned.
First of all, I learned that I had been taking my thyroid medication incorrectly for years. No one ever told me there was a certain way that it had to be taken, just that it should be taken in the morning. I take the synthetic medication, so I don't know if there is a certain criteria for other thyroid meds. What I learned is that you cannot have anything to eat or drink (except water) for 2 hours before you take your meds and for 1 hour after you take your meds. I was eating right after taking the pills.
Did you know that you cannot have any products with calcium in them anywhere near the time that you are taking your medication? I was taking my medication with a glass of milk on a regular basis. I learned that the calcium was absorbing the medication, so nothing was getting into my system. So make sure that you are taking your medication correctly. It will really help with the slow metabolism problem.
You need to find out how many calories you should be having per day. This will be what you base all of your food intake on. I am not saying that you should look at a chart that is made as a generic guideline. You need to calculate your "resting metabolic rate". It is specific for your height, age, and current weight. This figure will change throughout your dieting to help you get through those periods when your weight loss stalls.
Drinking plenty of water and getting exercise are essential to losing weight. You must burn more calories than what your body requires on a regular basis or you will not lose any weight at all.
I found that gettingmy thyroid levels at their optimum levelmade the process of losing weight much easier and I wasn't saying "how can I lose weight with a thyroid problem" any longer. This might be the key for you as well. Check with your doctor to see if your levels are where they really should be.
