How to Manage Your Time Daily? Be More Productive Instantly

Want to learn how to manage your time daily?

I will help you to do that with a step by step method that anyone can do. You will have to get yourself a spreadsheet program and if you do not have one, you can download free office program from OpenOffice or FreeOffice online.

If you love to use paper, you can make a spreadsheet by making eight column with 49 boxes. I suggest that you put the columns next to each other as one column contains the time while the other column contains the plan for the day.

The concept for managing time daily follows the idea that you need to start your day by planning through the use of the spreadsheet.

The method

1. Open your spreadsheet. In the leftmost column, put in the first box with the word 'Time'.

Then, down the column, put in numbers from 0:00 until 24:00.

An example:-

...until you reach 24:00.

If you prefer to put your waking time in the top, repeat the same way. Let's say I wake up at 6:00 am

...until I reach 5:30.

If you do not like the 0:00 to 24:00 format, use the AM/PM format. One more example:-

6:00 AM

6:30 AM

7:00 AM

...until 5:30 AM

2. In the second column, next to first one, insert the word 'Monday'. Repeat this for the next 6 columns with Tuesday until Sunday.

3. Put aside the spreadsheet, identify time-sensitive activities such as submitting reports, sending in home work etc. Write them down anywhere you fancy.

4. Think about your day to day activities. You can also break up your activities into tasks or categories. I follow Cal Newport's categories - professional/ extra-curricular, and personal.

Every activity related to your job goes under professional. A student would change the professional into studies. while the activities related to your hobby or projects not related to your job goes under extra-curricular. The personal category involves activities related to life management.

Make your own categories if you do not like the ones I suggested. But if you follow my suggestions, check out my example of categories and its respective activities:-

Professional - Blogging, study

Extra-curricular - Writing a novel, basketball.

Personal - Pray, exercises

Write them down too.

5. Start filling in your spreadsheet. First fill in your routine activities such as eating, sleeping, and showering.

Then, fill in time-sensitive activities. After that put in the activities under the categories you had decided earlier.

You will find that you have more time to do anything you like if you have less time-sensitive activities. You decide yourself how you fill your time. For example, using my categories, maybe I feel that I want to focus more on my professional category then I will put in my spreadsheet activities such as write more content for my blog or read some books relevant to my studies.

And...that's it

Using this method, you will start teaching yourself to be accountable towards yourself and your time. Try it and if you cannot understand my method, ask me in the comment section below.
