I just got my LTAR laser blaster in the mail this morning and I got to test it vigorously with my best friend all day. I couldn't believe how much fun we got out of it and we'll definitely won't let it gather dust in the attic for a long time to come.. if it we can keep it in one piece..
Alright first things first. What in the world is an laser blaster and is it as dangerous as it sounds? Well there's this iPhone app that allows you to play a game of laser tag with your friends using your iPhone or iPod touch. It also features a single player target practice mode with some of the best integration of augmented reality I have ever seen. The laser blaster is basically a plastic gun you can plug your iPhone or iPod touch in and transforms your IOS device into a viewfinder and user interface.
But is a Laser Blaster as dangerous as it sounds? I didn't think of it at first, but I've experienced first hand that running around with a gun is actually pretty dangerous. I was so busy looking at my display to switch to my virtual automatic rifle that I just did not see that coffee table. One very painful toe and two broken coffee cups later, we decided to take the game outside. Please learn from my mistakes and make sure you have plenty of room to maneuver when playing this game!
The game got pretty intense and there was quite a lot of running involved. Luckily, the blaster seems sturdy enough and there was barely a scratch on it wen I ran straight into a tree (this really wasn't my best day). All that running around shooting pretend lasers at my friend really got me feeling like a kid again and I would recommend this product to anyone solely based on that awesome piece of nostalgia I think we all share.
Sadly I do have to tell you that this wonderful game isn't available for everyone. For now, You need at least an iPhone 4 or a third generation iPod touch to get it to work and for now, Android users are left in the cold. There is an android version currently available, but the gun's quality is nowhere near the LTAR and it completely falls apart way too easily. That's definitely not something you want whit a game this intense.
All together today was really a day worth remembering and reliving many times. Me and my friend had the best time killing each other off with the LTAR Laser Blaster and we got a great workout on top of that. I definitely recommend this product to anyone with an iPhone or iPod touch.
