Hot Gifts At Christmas - Bored Kids To Board Games

While most of us are now used to the children spending a good deal of time in front of the computer, we probably want to see them otherwise entertained at times over the holiday period. What a great idea to bring out a 'real-life' version of the smash hit Angry Birds game.

This could be an excellent introduction for those youngsters who have not previously experienced a board game. To go through in reallity what they have only seen on screen can be a real eye-opener, for many of those kids who are well-versed in the virtual world.

Angry Birds is proving a real winner and could well persuade even the most committed virtual gamers that there really is life away from the screen.

Once they have tried and enjoyed the Angry Birds experience, then there are a number of other great board games to add some variety to spending time with friends and family.

For kids who have an interest in history, there is a splendid game based on the battles which may have taken place in the ancient French city of Carcassonne.

This game of strategy will test the skills of older and younger children alike. Nor will the adults find it a walk-over when they take on the kids.

If exercising the brain becomes the order of the day, then perhaps it is time your family and friends learned to Qwirkle. If this is a new word for you, then you could be in for a real treat.

There are some aspects of 'Qwirkling' which will keep youngsters and adults alike amused and entertained.

These games are all proving popular sellers at Amazon and are set to be a big part of the holiday season for many people.

Once you have been to Carcassonne and finally been Qwirkled out, then it could be a good time to find out what the Blokus classic game is all about.

While it has been fun over the years to get out the scrabble and monopoly, as well as all the other old favourites, I think it is a great idea to add in some of these newer ideas to give the kids a fresh slant on what it is like to play interactive games with real people in real life.

Once you introduce the children to these great new board games, you might find that they want to spend time away from the computer screen, well past the end of the holiday period.

Who knows, perhaps Qwirkle, Blokus, Angry Birds and Carcassonne will become a regular part of your Christmas in the future.
