KRE-O Star Trek Klingon Starfleet Attack Review
Kre-O and Lego are almost neck in neck when it comes to quality building bricks. Toys R Us has brought out the KRE-O Star Trek Klingon Starfleet Attack building set, and is exclusive to Toys R Us and their distributors.
What makes this set so great is the figures you get with it. You get Kirk, Spock, McCoy like in the USS Enterprise set. With this set you also get Chekov and Sulu and 3 Klingons. Making it 8 in all. The features on the kreons are super and you can see who is Kirk, Sulu, Spock and the rest. Kirk, Spock and Sulu each come with a chrome phaser while McCoy comes with a medical tricor. Two of the Klingons come with a disruptor and the other one comes with a Bat'leth.
The third Klingon seems to an admiral as his uniform is different, and each of the Starfleet crew have there emblems on their shirts. Like the Lego figures these can move their arms and legs as well. Spock has his iconic ears and Kirk has more of a shine to his hair.
The USS Enterprise and the Klingon D-7 come with their own instruction booklets. The booklets have photo step by step instructions, so it easy to follow. The set is for children aged 9 to 14, but it is so easy to put together that adults can build it too.
The USS is about 18 inches long by 9 inches wide and 8 inches tall. It requires three AAA batteries and is not included in this set. The Klingon requires one penlight battery that is included. The set includes battle damage stickers, some come on a white background with others with a translucent back ground.
I think Kre-O did not realize that the white background would not look good on the Klingon ship, but have now rectified there mistake, unfortunately they had a lot of the sets out already.
Both ships have lights that you can light up. The Enterprise has three lights and the Klingon ship just one. It looks awesome in the dark. Both ships have missile launchers and have a trigger block to launch them.
The bridge of the Enterprise can be opened and the inside has a lot of detail. It has a captain's chair, navigation console and more. All 5 of the Starfleet crew can fit in there, and each have their designated area. If you decided to display it without the top it would look good.
The Klingons each have their own chair to sit in. You lift the cockpit of the D-7 to fit in two and the other one is at the back. The one thing that I do not like about the D-7, is that it's landing gear is to short for my liking. The wings touch the surface and I feel it should not. If you have extra blocks put an extra block on each landing gear and it will lift the wings.
The Klingon ship does not have as much detail as the Enterprise, but the Enterprise is more complicated, and the D-7 is a battle cruiser. The Enterprise has flip tops on both the nacelles and engine parts can be seen.
I would recommend getting this set if you do not have the USS Enterprise. It has more than the single Enterprise and only costs a few dollars more.
