Here's an article marketing tip for you. Your keyword is instrumental in getting the article read by as many people as possible. Before you write, do a little keyword research to ensure that enough people are searching for the keyword and not too many other marketers are competing for that keyword.
I know sometimes you will want to write articles just because you have a message to convey to your readers and there is nothing wrong with that at all. I often write on topics that get very little monthly searches or have an insane amount of competition. If you already have a steady stream of traffic, the article will still get read.
I believe, in order to get a steady stream of traffic flowing, you should always use keywords that will will help you connect with as many people as possible as quickly as possible.
I liken keywords to an apple tree. When you go to pick apples off a tree, you always start with the ones that are easiest to reach. After that, you will gradually move up the tree picking the apples from bottom to top until you reach a point where climbing any higher in the tree is just not worth the trouble.
With the right keyword research tool and method, it's like standing in an apple orchard with rows of trees as far as the eye can see and each row has droves of fruit at arms length. All you have to do is reach out and grab them.
When you pick an apple, you always give it a look before eating it to make sure there are no worms in it, right? Keywords are the same way, you have to take a closer look at the keyword to make sure it meets a certain quality standard.
What you want to know is if the keyword gets enough monthly searches so when you get ranked for it the article will get enough traffic to make it worth it and that there are not too many people competing for it so that you can actually get ranked for the keyword.
To find this information, you need a keyword research tool. A good research tool will help you find dozens of high quality keywords in just a few minuets.
I received an email yesterday from someone I have been helping to learn internet marketing. She asked me out of the four keywords she had picked, which would make the best domain for the site she is building. I started to plug each one into my keyword research tool and discovered that one of them was pretty decent.
I decided decent just wouldn't cut it. I wanted to help her find an amazing keyword to use as her domain name so, I started looking around and discovered one that had almost 10 thousand monthly searches and less than 500 competition.
Anyone can find these keywords, you just need the right keyword research tool.
Thanks for reading. Leave your comments below!
I have heard that many times but I have not had Jaaxy let me down yet. I would love it if you could elaborate on that a bit.
I was told by Kyle in a very in depth conversation one night that anything over 400 can be skewed results. I could not get him to elaborate on it much more than to say he said to avoid them unless you know for a fact the info is correct. The roiom got busy and we kind of lost the topic. I would love a bit more definition on this myself, as I have had good results up to 500. I am a true believer that if it is not broke, do not try to fix it. If it is working for you, get er done, lol
Let me know if you can pin him down on that a bit. I will ask him as well if I see him in WA's live chat. This will make a great article for SA and training mod for WA
I have to say that I agree with Joan's comments. Your article suggests some very vivid imagery to enhance understanding of the concept of keywords. Her comment also reminded me of a struggle I am having with LSI. I use a Firefox plugin called SEO Workers Analysis Tool. I find it very helpful in catching oversights without needing to go over a complex check list. No matter how much I concentrate on including LSI's it never picks up on them and warns that there aren't any. Do you know of any other means of checking content for LSI's?
First let me tell people what an LSI is. LSI stands for Latent semantic indexing. Basically all this means is using different variations of your keyword throughout your article rather than stuffing the same keyword in there several times. For instance the keyword "how to keyword research" could also be used in the article "when researching keywords" or how to research keywords" Google want's you to write naturally so they take this into consideration. To answer your question Jim I really don't know a way to track this I don't pay much attention to it to be honest with you. I use my keyword in the title and maybe in the first paragraph and after that I just write...When you're writing you really have to forget Google exist. Pretend like you already have tons of people lining up to read what you wrote and deliver the message to them. Google says to write for the reader not for the search engine. That's exactly what I do.
Wonderful article Ty. You're so right about keywords. Something I'm happy about is that keyword stuffing has disappeared. It always made articles sound phony and poorly written. Google has actually helped a lot with LSI and allowing content to carry the article. I like the way you teach and the way you write. Very clear.
I hate keyword stuffing, I never did it myself, I sometimes use my keyword in the first paragraph but only if I can make it read like it belongs there, if not i don't do it. Like you said it sounds so fake.
Keywords is a difficult subject. I was troubled about it at first but later on I realized what you say that even keywords with little traffic can get your site be read if you have a steady stream of traffic
Bingo! You could not be more right. Of course quality content is a must as well ( I know you know that AJ) but it makes no difference how great your work is if you can't get in the hands of the people who are looking for it. That's where keywords come into play. Keywords are what allows you to deliver your content to the people who are looking for it.
Nice article promo for Jaaxy Ty keyword research goes hand and hand in every article research Great Article
Thanks Jacob, I agree with you. Keywords are in my opinion one of the most important factors to getting your work read by as many people as possible. There are tons of factors of course but this is a big one not to be over looked. All of my articles start with keyword research before I do anything else.
