Buy Traffic For Website - 5 Ways

There are a couple of places to go to buy traffic for your website. I will list them below.

Search Engines

One of the most common ways to buy traffic for your website is using what is called Pay Per Click or most commonly referred to as PPC. If you ever searched for something on Google, Yahoo, or Bing you might have noticed the advertisements or Sponsored ads on the right hand side of the search engine results page. With PPC you pay every time your ad is clicked on. This is why it is referred to as pay per click.

Another way to advertise with search engines is using their "content network". The content network consists of websites that have agreed to run ads on their websites. Your ad gets placed on webpages that have content related to your ad.

Banner Ads

Banner ads are another way to buy traffic for your website. Basically, you pay other websites to display banner ads on their websites. There are generally two ways to do this: approach websites owners yourself or through ad brokers.

Do It Yourself: Approaching website owners yourself generally involves calling or emailing the website owner. If they are already selling advertising you can usually find an advertise here link in the footer or on the side of the page. If they don't have any ads up currently, you might be able to get a bargain when purchasing your ads.

Ad Broker: Ad brokers are companies that go out and purchase advertising space on websites. They then sell that advertising space to customers who wish to advertise on other websites. They are the middlemen between the website owners and the people who want to purchase advertising space.

The advantage to using ad brokers is that they have done the hard work on finding websites that are willing to sell advertising space. The disadvantage is you might not be able to get as good a deal on advertising rates than if you contacted website owners yourself.

Typically banner ad rates are measured in CPM or cost per thousand impressions. If it is a $1 CPM what this means is you pay $1 per thousand impressions. So if you wanted 15,000 impressions this would cost you $15. Notice how this is different than PPC, here you are paying for impressions not clicks. If you get 15,000 impressions and no one clicks on your ad then you are out of luck.

Article Marketing

Typically you will come across this method listed as a "free" method of getting traffic. However, there is always a cost involved with getting traffic whether you are paying for it with money or time.

The way you would "buy" traffic with articles is you would pay someone to write and submit articles to article directories for you. There are tons of article writing services on the internet. You can even use outsourcing websites such as odesk to hire article writers.

SEO

SEO stands for search engine optimization. In a nutshell, this is getting your website or pages of your website to show up on the first page of the search engine results page when certain keywords are typed in.

This is similar to article marketing as in a lot of people tend to think of it as a free method since they do it themselves. However, there are SEO companies out there who you can pay to do the work for you. Since they would increase your rankings in the search engines, it would increase your websites traffics. This would be effectively "buying website traffic" even if it is a sort of round about way. However, most SEO companies don't guarantee results, so you would want to do your research before using one.

Social Media Marketing

As with SEO there are companies out there that you can hire to create and manage your social media marketing. What they do is create fan pages on facebook and get people to join them. They are then able to interact with your fans and drive them to your website. They will do similar things using twitter and google plus. Once again if done correctly social media marketing will increase traffic to your website, so you've essentially "paid for traffic".

Conclusion

As you can see there are a couple of different ways to buy traffic for your website. In some instances it is a direct exchange. You pay money, you get traffic. In other instances it's indirect. You hire a company and the results of hiring that company are increased traffic. Don't be afraid to test out the different options.
