Establishing your own online business working from in home is an excellent way to not only earn a secondary income or a new primary income but it's also a step away from relying on employment to earn some money to make your ends meet.
In fact, when you enter a niche that revolves around your passion you develop a new way of life that many can only dream. That would be working in a field that you love because really it doesn't feel like work at all it's more a hobby that can pay you well for many weeks, months or years ahead.
To build a business revolving around your passion, you would have to be trained correctly so your first step would be heading over to the wealthy affiliate university and getting down to some serious intense training with a training plan for a year of progressive training and action. This is to learn the trade of how to actually set up an online business and to mature it for growth as you go along.
However, my article here is to reveal five things you don't do and should do when setting up an online business from working in home that I consider mandatory to increase your success rate in the long run.
So take notes if you must and pay close attention as these rules make the difference between increasing your success rate or crushing it.
#1 Choosing competitive Keywords before earning some status online short comes you
One of the biggest mistakes newcomer to the online world make is conducting keyword research that's flawed where they look at the traffic gains that come in the thousands and believe these are the perfect keywords to select.
When you approach keyword research like this as a starter, you only short come yourself when you fail to take into consideration that may be well-established authority status websites are already ranked under these keywords who will dominate the lion share of the traffic due to their status.
The right approach would be to start small targeting the low hanging fruit keywords that have a minimum of 50 potential traffic gains a month with less than 100 competing pages. This will make it easier to rank under your preference of keywords while also help you build some momentum to get the ball rolling for your increase of online presence as you start to rank on page 1.
#2 Copying other people work is plagiarism meaning avoid zone!!!
A lot of cheats can be found online where they copy and paste other people's hard work and claim it as their own. No one respects copy cats as their unoriginal and pretty much thieves with no value to offer an audience.
Plagiarism is a sin online that will only hurt your rankings and respect from your respective potential audience. You must be original at all times and not develop the habit of being a cheat who just repeats others works.
You can, however, gain some ideas off other people's work as this is gaining influence but be original with your thoughts avoiding plagiarism altogether. You'll thank yourself for this later as you get good at writing quality content.
I recommend installing a free plagiarism check tool known as Grammarly to help you in this department.
#3 Reducing the amount of Affiliate links on your website, keeping clean and helpful
We're in business to turn a profit but before we generate profits we must help our audience first. When we write reviews this is where we incorporate affiliate links where 3 - 4 on one review is healthy but any more and this can crush your rankings.
If you create a website with most of your content having affiliate links in your post/pages then you will only appear to be a bridge site to the search engines especially Google. A bridge site is a promotional one that's just flooded with promotional contents and not helpful engaging contents that will only result in the search engines blackballing your website in the long run.
Let's say you want to create 36 posts and have them published 3 months from now. You can balance this out by having 18 helpful and engaging contents while having 18 reviews to balance the deliveries out but keep it relevant to your niche and cycle of contents.
If you can earn your visitors trust with your 18 helpful contents then they're more likely to trust you in your recommendations when you offer them a review in regards to the comments they leave or cycles you take them through.
Trust is one of the main factors contributing to the customer comprehension process and customer lifestyle process for your marketing funnel. So building trust before considering a conversion is key and how you build trust is another key that opens the successful conversion doors.
#4 The rule of age, giving yourself time to mature
The rule of age must always be taken into account when starting out where brand new websites won't really be trusted by the search engines for a good six-month period as the ruling age goes.
The search engines won't give you any trust unless you show you create quality content while being engaging with your visitors where you can also score some social points when your content is shared by many visitors who like your content.
A lot of people don't like this rule due to wanting instant success online but it's actually a blessing in disguise. In this timeframe, you can build and assemble and learn from the many mistakes you will be making as you progress forward with your online venture. So it gives you time to learn and test the waters in a variety of organic or PCC methods to market your business effectively.
#5 Over usage of backlinking while neglect of interlinking
Backlinking is healthy on some occasions but overusing it and you will lose ranking potentials. Interlinking is loved by the search engines especially Google because it makes their crawlers/spiders job easier to navigate your site to review your content to be indexed.
Interlinking also shows the search engines the confidence you have in your content because you're walking your visitors through links to stay on your website that's relevant to their search instead of being lazy and backlinking to other websites.
Reduce your backlinking habits and develop the habit of incorporating interlinking within your post/pages but don't do it to all your posts only the ones with other topics that are of relevance to the landing page your visitors entered in on.
The key is to prevent visitors from bouncing the page by keeping them engaged and entertained with value to their search.
