If you’re thinking to yourself “how do I get traffic to my website for free” or even by paid methods, you should know there are seemingly an ENDLESS amounts of ways you get create a lot of traffic to your website(s). I’m here to help you on the path of doing that by telling you one important way of how to do that through guest blogging.
First, How Does Guest Blogging Work?
In case you’re trying to figure how does guest blogging work & don’t already know what it is, it’s when you become a Contributor to somebody else’s blog & write posts with links to your website(s). First you need to tell them you actually want to guest blog for them so they know who you are. Then once you’re setup, all you do is just submit posts for approval or review (with the ability to review over these posts yourself after clicking the “submit for review” button). The whole point of guest blogging is to create back-links to your own websites, which in turn creates traffic to your site along with backlink juice for ranking higher in Google, or get paid doing it for other sites.
Why Should I Do Guest Blogging?
Guest blogging is a great way to increase brand awareness about your company or website, especially if you don't already have a lot of traffic & aren't making many sales yet. When you make posts on other people’s blogs & put your links to your website(s), a lot of that traffic will click on your site links & visit your site through that. So the more posts you make through guest blogging, the more this will build up over time. Then as icing on the cake, it helps with your optimization with Google by creating more “backlink juice” to your website pages.
What Should I look for when Guest Blogging?
Well, the 1st thing you need to look for is if the site owner actually has a guest blogging sign up page available. Reading there guidelines for guest blogging will give you an idea of what they’re looking for in your guest blog posts & how you should set them up. Some examples of what they might be looking for are 400 or more words in length, a picture cropped to the left side of your post, unique & original content, & being well written. Chances are they will probably not want you to copy your content from somewhere else on the web, write to simply advertise your business, or spam your website link all over the place. Write to inform, write to tell people the things they NEED to know for your specific niche, & then write because you enjoy it!

Hey, thanks a lot for the compliment Lisa. :) Hope you got something from it. I've actually been guest blogging on Sylviane Nuccio's article marketing site myself lately. I'd be happy to have you guest blog on my own site. I'm receiving 1,000 unique visitors a month (right around 30 a day) but it's going up pretty quickly.
Yeah, the avenues are seriously endless. It's really cool the different things you can do. Good luck Amy. ;)
Quite a sharp page you link to! Well done - there and here. Great article linked right up to handling the concept of guest blog post to reality of posts.
I agree Joan. It's also a great way to make some spare money too especially with large corporations if you look in the right places. There's some places out there that pay as high as $50 or even more given they actually accept your post. As for backlinks and targetted traffic, oh yeah. This helps a ton especially if you target similar niche sites that also have guest blogging.
This was very timely for me, Seth, thank you. I've recently been thinking that I could do some writing for other people and/or guest blog. In my blogging circles so far, I haven't noticed any sign up place for guest bloggers to submit requests. How do you recommend getting guest blog spots in that case?
Are you trying to guest blog for somebody else or getting guest bloggers to write for your own site? If you're looking for some good sites you can make a little money off of, type in 7 Websites that pay $50 or More for Guest Blog Posts on Google. (there's many out there there besides these btw). As for getting people to sign up to your own site, just advertise your site through various places & tell your friends about it. Feel free to sign up to my site as well if you want!
