Keyword Tools That Depend On Google

Google controls the internet. Well, not completely. But they have a lot of power. To do a bit of word play on that infamous Seinfeld episode, Google is the master of everyone's domain, at least internet domains! But if you have ever used keyword tools before, you probably already know that they depend on the data that comes from Google.

Is It Bad For Keyword Tools To Depend On Google?

It's not that it is necessarily bad. It's just that the data returned from Google is believed to be not very accurate. As long as you take that into consideration, I suppose you could still work with the tool. But making decisions based on inaccurate data is making too many assumptions and could lead you down the wrong path when deciding which keywords to include in your campaigns.

Why does Google do this? They do not readily share information such as this. That's why it's become such a dominant company. But if I were forced to make a guess, I believe that if they skew the results, then advertisers on their Adwords network will bid higher and they will make more money as a result. Again, I can only guess that is the reason why. But let's face it. They don't have to answer to anyone at this point in the game.

Google Makes Changes All The Time

Google rules the roost. No one can argue that. So they don't really care too much about the effects of change that they implement. But the keyword tools that depend on Google certainly care. To illustrate, Google recently announced that it is going to be removing its Keyword Tool External and replacing it with something called Keyword planner. Guess what all the tools that relied on Keyword Tool External are going to have to do? Change their programs to work with the new implementation. And perhaps they won't be able to implement the types of features that you had in the previous release. Plus last I checked, most of the major programs depend on Google's data for at least some of their operations.

How To Get Around This

It's easy to get around this. Just pick a program that doesn't depend on Google. Having accurate data is also a criteria that you should insist on but you cannot do that with the Almighty Google Gods. You can only hope and pray and usually hide your head in shame for even considering this blasphemous behavior! You also want competition data to be contained within the program. And if you are going to use it a lot then you really want something that produces the results fast. These are the criteria that you should consider when you search for your next keyword research platform.

Many platforms that I have used in the past, give little to no training. If you are going to shell out bucks for researching phrases, then I think you ought to be given the courtesy of having some decent training as well. But it's not just training on how to use the program that you're after. You also want to know how the platform can be used to select the correct keywords, the ones that can actually rank properly.

The Right Keyword Tool Makes All The Difference

Having the right keyword tool, especially one that doesn't depend Google for its data, will do wonders for your site in getting found in the search engines. Hopefully, by utilizing the selection criteria tips given in this article you will well be on your way to having the correct program that can help you find those power keywords easily.

One of the most frustrating aspects of keyword tools is having to buy them before trying them out. Now to be fair, a good majority of them will refund your money if you're not happy. But that incurs transaction costs for the vendor and it's a pain for customers to have to initiate the process of the refund. Reading reviews for keyword tools is helpful but there should also include a way to see the functionality in action.
