Here are a few more article marketing tips that will help you keep your readers engaged and get them talking. Writing on topics that evoke passion from people is a great way to get the ball rolling.
Often, titles make or break an article. Learning to push peoples buttons with your title so they get interested and want to read what you have to say but don't get to angry with you for saying it, can be a very nice skill to develop.
Of course, not every title needs to do this but sometimes using this tactic can help you get more views, more comments, and more social activity which helps you rank higher.
Another little tip I have learned is, don't get carried away with using bold text to emphasize a point. If you use it once on a page it stands out. If you use it too much, it becomes distracting. Have you ever seen a street corner that's littered with those little yard signs? If there is one sign it stands out and draws your attention; whereas, too many signs and they all blend together and your mind just kind of blocks them all out.
You may also want to remember to keep you paragraphs short. Small blocks of text are easier to read from a computer screen.
I also find that people like numbered lists when they are reading "how to" guides and step-by-step instructions. for instance.
- Push peoples buttons with your titles
- Use bold text sparingly
- Keep your paragraphs short
- Use numbered lists
We store information in our brains much like we store information in file folders. Lists help people remember things because it helps them know which file to place it in for easy access.
I think the single most important thing you can do when writing is to always give people something helpful or useful to take with them.
Don't forget, all traffic on the internet starts with a question someone wants or needs an answer to. Help people find the answer to the questions they are asking and they will love you for it. If you don't answer people's questions very well, you will slow down the process of them finding those answers and they will get annoyed with you.
We are all bound to have a little of both come our way from time to time. Just give it your best effort to offer quality, helpful information to people and you shouldn't have to worry too much about annoying anyone.
I hope these tips will help you become a better article marketer and engage your readers a little more effectively.

Very Nice article write up. I like your ideas on catching the attention of the reader using specific tips that allow the reader to be engaged to the content. Of course, every article must provide some sort of solution and value; which you did in your own article explaining article marketing. Well done.
I agree, you really do have to offer the reader value of some kind. Thank you for the comment =)
Nice article and a lot of knowledgeable tips that any marketer can use especially the part you talk about using bold text. Been out of the game for a while and trying to brush up on my basics. What do you mean by: "Use numbered lists"?

This marketing campaign is just getting started and i intend to add to it on a regular basis. so keep a look out for me =)
I keep all your words Ty, I find this article very useful
Thank you Maria. I am very happy that I'm able to help you =)
All good points Ty, I had read in an article by Seth Layton another author on SA that bolding, underlining and italics secondary keywords can help in ranking for those as well as your title keyword. Used sparingly as in paragraph titles it helps Google rank your article for several keywords and helps with more traffic. Its a bit complicated to get the formula correct one that I'm still trying to figure out.
Seth is very sharp and knows his stuff. I don't do that myself but I have heard that before. I use bold and and underline where I want to express a point. I honestly don't pay as much attention to that kind of SEO since penguin was released. I think Google lessened the value they lend to that kind of thing. I can't say that for sure as it pertains to that specifically but most of what I have been reading supports my conclusion. These days I use my keyword in my title and maybe I use my keyword in the first paragraph if I can make it read smoothly and naturally. Other than that I just deliver my message to people and forget SEO even exist.
The social aspect is probably more important that trying to get Google to notice you. Pick a good keyword and write quality content!
Social will make Google notice you but quality content is the heart and soul of marketing. everything else is is just a means to get people to read your content but at the end of the day it makes no difference how many people read it if the material is not good. I'm going to sound like Kyle here for a second but help people first and the money will follow. He must have said that to me a million times before the importance of it sank in. Once it did finally sink in my marketing efforts took off.
When i write it always starts with the keyword and title. I know it seems backward and makes your writing feel forced at first. Writers always want to just write what they have to say and don't want a title guiding their direction but taking that extra time to discover a great keyword that you can use in your title can make a huge difference in the number of people that actually end up reading what you wrote. You work hard on your articles. Don't waste that effort =)
Ty has influenced me to focus more on keywords. I use the Google keyword search and sign in with my Google account. I have checked titles for quite some time. I signed up with the Advanced Marketing Institute. They offer a free headline analyzer. I use it to tweak my article titles because I believe people are attracted to articles based on titles and keywords.
