I just finished the 30 in 30 challenge and this is the advice I would give to anyone considering it.When I first accepted the challenge I had no idea what to expect. I had been going through the classroom training fairly well and was on level 2. I had my website up but hardly any content. My attitude was “Kyle said it’s a good idea so I will give it a try”.
I realize now that there is more to consider than that. Don’t get me wrong it was worth it, but like many new to internet marketing I was unaware of what I might face. In this article I would like to share with you some challenges that I faced and some possible solutions that may help.
First Challenge
The first 10 days were pretty exciting. I was full of ideas that had relevance to my niche and was right on schedule. But after the 10th day I began to run out of ideas.
Solution
Before taking the challenge make a list of all the things you’re interested in. Write down everything you know about. Use the category and subcategory list from Street Articles to classify each subject. Even though you may only have one niche (or website) now, consider 5 niches or websites you may eventually have. Now you have the choice of writing 6 articles for 5 different subjects (or niches) instead of 30 articles on 1 subject.
Second Challenge
All of a sudden I found myself spending way too much time researching. Even up to 5 and 6 hours a day. Soon I found that to stay on track I had to make writing the article top priority over anything else I did that day. That changed things considerably. It seemed the articles were all I did. Also, out of frustration and confusion, I had accidentally erased a finished article I had been working on for over an hour.
Solution
Follow the directions that WA sends you for ideas and keyword research. I know that sounds elementary but I found myself over thinking each idea. So to get moving start with a title, category, and subcategory. As far as research time goes, if you’re going over an hour that may be too long. Open up Google Drive (you can download it from a Gmail account). Write everything in Google Drive/Document. It has a great spell check and word count tool plus it saves instantly and automatically. Once your article is finished, you can copy and paste into Street Articles. I found that when I just started with the first sentence and got going I could continue. Thinking the article all the way through before writing is nice but that realistically doesn't happen too often.
Final Thoughts
I could go on and on with the challenges but for the sake of article length I will some things up here. There are two trains of thought. One is, just start writing so you can gain the skill of building content and writer recognition or two, build a website (or several sites) that you can write for so you will have something to link to. As I got deeper into the challenge I was unable to link my niche site because I ran out of ideas for my main niche. Also, because I didn’t allocate my time properly I was unable to complete the other social and networking assignments. I’m still unclear on the social linking so I will have to go back and redo those assignments.
Thanks WA
It has been a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone willing. The directions are very well laid out. I believe that the closer you can follow the directions that have been presented (given life’s own unexpected challenges) you will get the most out the 30 in 30 challenge. Although I only have one site I will go back to those (non related niche) articles and consider building new sites that I can link to. By taking the 30 in 30 challenge I have developed a formula and the confidence to create an article on most subjects I know a little about and do it within a reasonable amount of time. It's a skill builder. Go for it!
Good stuff! For me, I learned a TON about creating good content. Brought me all the way from armature to pro it feels like!
Thanks for the comment Chip. Yes good content is key. I also felt more motivated to create some new goals for my business.
