So you finished building your website. Now you want to know how to get people to your site. Which route is the best? What are the advantages of a paid to click site vs. a surf exchange site? Is it a good idea to buy website traffic? Today, we'll compare some of the features found on paid to click sites and surf exchange sites.
Paid to Click sites, often referred to PTC sites, facilitate payment to people who view advertisements on behalf of people with something to sell or are trying to increase their referral base. Some of the advertisements are created simply to generate website traffic. These sites have anti-cheat protection, which prevent robots from "viewing" the ads and require the person being paid to keep the ad window open until the timer is up. Then, the money is credited to the user's account. The advantage of the anti-cheat protection is that you know the person being paid to view your site can't use their computer for anything else. Lastly, paid to click sites guarantee that your ad is viewed by an agreed upon number of unique visitors.
I use ClixSense, so the instructions I'm about to share apply to that site. Most sites have similar processes. When you use a paid to click site to increase traffic, you submit your advertisement. The site verifies that your advertisement is appropriate and follows the terms of service. Then, you buy ad credits and assign them to your ads. On most sites, you can target certain audiences based on gender, location, account type, etc. You can even set the time your ad becomes available.
Surfing is done by viewing other's websites in exchange for them viewing yours. Often, the surf exchange is 1:1, meaning that for every site you visit, someone else views your site. Some sites offer a 2:1 ratio with the promise of reaching bonus viewing credits faster. Depending on the number of surfers on at the time you surf, your ad may be viewed by the same person multiple times. You'll find that these sites have also advertisements that sell products and referral links, some of which are significantly more frequent than others.
Like the paid to click site, you submit your advertisement, which is approved or declined, based on the terms of service. Some sites automatically send your ad to viewers world wide while others allow you to select target audiences. After you have earned ad credits by viewing other's sites, you may assign ad credits to your sites. Also, you can pay to have people view your site, most people "surf."
I tried two surfing sites. One was FreeHitXchange and the other was EasyHits4U. A few days after experimenting with both sites, my site's visitors count was artificially inflated by four thousand visitors in less than 24 hours. The post that was targeted was FreeHitXchange and it appeared that the source were Google searches for FreeHitXchange and my blog's address. I want visitors to my site, but not robots, so I renamed my post. Still, it appeared that my visitor's count was increasing very quickly. I changed my blog's address and no longer have this problem. That was quite a headache because I had to edit most of the links within my site and from my youtube videos to my site. My advice, look up reviews before sharing your site in this manner.
So, which is the best way to go about increasing website traffic? It depends on your situation. If you have money, you can pay to have your site viewed by those eager to get paid. If you don't have money, but have time, and you don't mind that other surfers might be multi-tasking, surfing may be your best bed until you've generated income to start buy ad credits on a paid to click site. Just make sure you have chosen a reputable surfing site.
Now that you've built your site, will you choose to increase your traffic with a paid to click site or a surf exchange? Will you do a little of both? Either way, you'll generate traffic to your website.
Rebecca, Interesting idea -- I wonder how often people who are paid to click or on a surf exchange end up actually interested. Thanks for an informative and well written article. blessings, Cynthia
That is a good question. I really do not have the answer today. I'm not sure how many are interested. On ClixSense, some people must make money off of it or they wouldn't pay to advertise there. I did a few ads before posting my article to see what would happen. I did end up with a few referrals that didn't stay active for a company I work for- FusionCash. I may have done my ad too often, however. I found that my first try brought in quite a few referrals. My subsequent ads did not. When it comes to surf exchange, I got nothing but increased visitors to my site. As a result, my adsense for that site was cut off. So, if you choose either, make sure you do not have adsense. Thank you for commenting with such great questions.
Rebecca, Thanks. Wondering about various other sources of traffic. Hmm. Too many visitors is what caused adsense to be cut off? I thought the purpose of that was to get visitors. blessings, Cynthia
Cynthia, Too many visitors are not the problem. It's unnatural traffic from traffic exchanges. Have a great day! Becky
