Oceanviews at Dangay

I am so lucky that I can call this place my home. Although I live in Australia, I have been blessed with an abode that my family, Ryan, Sharlene and I can enjoy and visit. It’s built over a sand. Maybe I should call it the SandCastle. In a few weeks time I will be trekking into my castle with a colleague, a friend and her partner. I can’t wait to wake up to the sound of the ocean, waves frolicking to and fro. Kids screaming with delights, fisherman hauling their catch of the day. Neigbours gathering on the beach. Fish sellers waiting for their turn.

I can see myself, coffee on my hand, still seedy from the previous night of drinking and eating prawns, fish, muddies. Yes….they are massive. Awash with the California wine. And the local vodka, maybe rum or scotch.

The house is magnificent. Right on the waterfront. A separate entry upstairs, and downstairs is where we stay when we go on vacation.. All the bedroom have ensuite. The kitchen has brand new stainless steel stove. And on that note, the pleasure of cooking is absolutely enjoyed. There is also another massive kitchen separate to the house. One bedroom for the caretaker and a cool room. One day I would love to make my own smoke ham and bacon.

Then the bbq area, where it can easily entertained 20 people. The smoke of the chicken billowing and being carried by the wind is amazing. It was built with narra, best wood that you can get. Roofing is made of fibreglass, so it should last a very long time.

The swaying of the palm trees that littered the driveway. The crawling vines that embraces the logs embedded in the bbq area. Yes…very nice..a life of bliss…ohhh. And my king size bed!

Upstairs have endless view of the ocean. I can imagine sitting on the rocking chair with a drink on my hand. Sunglasses is a must as it can get glary. It’s almost like being lullabyed by the ocean. The stream of people walking by, the smell of salt in the air, the smile on the peoples faces. They are saying how are you, when did you arrive. And the kids faces, anticipation of a looming wonderful, happy times ahead. I normally gather the kids around and buy them balut. (duck egg).

Its like a paradise. Well….its a paradise. Where two weeks of bliss can be enjoyed. Forget about work, crunching numbers, end of month, downloading payments, files…and so on and so on. I’m saying forget about work and here I am talking about work.

The sunrise, as it take a glimpse behind the clouds, I can feel the enormous peace running like wild all over my body. I say a prayer and thank the Lord for I am blessed, asked that I feel contentment, that I shall not want and feel the happiness that I felt have eluded me for a while.

Romanticism is at bay. I would love to take a love here at Dangay. Maybe I should rename it “My Castle on the Sand”, share the moments of passion, instead of just by myself. Share a drink together. But he will not be there. Do I have someone in mind. maybe…I do…but he’s very elusive. Maybe one day, he’ll be able to stride ahead on the relationship. Take a plunge and enjoy the moments. As much as I want to, the barriers are still there. Too weary to fall in love, too scared to feel the pain. Which makes it difficult to trust. But I will get there, it might take a while, but I would love to feel the satisfaction, the feeling of being in love. The contentment of being with him. Then I can write poems, love songs are at bay and every word tickles my senses.

But for now…although my relationship does not seem to be flourishing as quickly as I would like it to be. I just have to be content of being by myself, but maybe that’s what it meant to be. It’s like the saying, slow but surely.

Where is this place, do you wonder?

It's located at Dangay, Roxas Oriental Mindoro, Philippines.

My piece of paradise...
