Are there travel plans in your future? Perhaps you are planning to go to New Orleans for Mardi Gras or to South Padre Island for Spring Break. You are excited, looking forward to fun times and adventure. Be very careful of what you pack for your trip, however.
You will want to pack comfortable clothing, like jeans, T-shirts, and personal items, such as your toothbrush, toothpaste, deoderant, and a hairbrush or comb. When you have what you need, you can be comfortable during your trip, relax, and enjoy yourself. When you do not have what you need, on the other hand, you wind up wearing the same clothing again and again. The clothing gets smelly and gross, and you feel self-conscious and miserable.
Are you reading a new bestseller or writing something for publication, such as an article? Bring it! When traveling, you never know when you might have a delay. If you will be a passenger in a car, bus, or plane, you may want to bring something to help you stay awake so that you do not fall asleep and miss the scenery on the way to your destination. By working on something, you will also be closer to finishing it.
Most travelers want to buy souvenirs. An item such as a shot glass or T-shirt is a great way to remember a trip and the great times you had. You may want to set aside a very small amount of money specifically for souvenirs. Leave valuables and most of your money at home, however.
One reason that you do not want to travel with valuables or large amounts of money is that both can be stolen. The valuables, such as jewelry, may be sentimental. When they are gone, they are gone. If an honest person finds your lost item, you might get it back. More than likely, however, it will be gone forever. Someone else will get to enjoy something that had been very special to you.
Another reason to avoid traveling with a great deal of money is that if you have too much money on you, you will be tempted to spend it. Then, when you get home after your trip, you will get back to your real life. The bills will come in, and you will worry about how you are going to pay them. You may need to purchase certain essentials, such as bath tissue, shampoo, or dish soap, and have no way to buy what you need. Leave most of your money at home, and you will have it later.
Enjoy the sights and sounds of a new place. Try new food. Have fun, and have a great trip.
