Key Factors When Buying Used Livestock Trailers For Sale

If you are a rancher, a farmer or simply have a great love for animals, livestock trailers can easily enable you to move your animals from one point to another. With so many models and styles, sometimes it can be hard to choose the right one and to decide whether to purchase a brand new one or look for used livestock trailers for sale.

However, regardless of your reasons, there are many factors to consider before you purchase one.

Therefore we offer you the three most common types of livestock trailers:

  1. Horse trailers are designed to transport heavy livestock such as cattle and horses. The length of the trailer can vary from 2.5m to 5m with a gross weight of 3,800 kg. They can come either with combination or a standard ramp.
  2. Aluminum trailers have a curbside escape door which is used for emergencies. They have a skid-free aluminum floor surface and a full opening gate at the center which enables easily loading and off-loading.
  3. Stock trailers are designed to transport animals through a rough terrain. They have an aluminum body and double deck which have street-side doors and a rubber mat floor.

To save money, consider looking for a used livestock trailers for sale as there are many quality trailers you can find online. Moreover, you can alter its interior design and features if you plan to expand the livestock you are transferring, because in that case you will certainly need more space. Before you shake hands and spend a small fortune whether on new ones, or on used livestock trailers for sale, make sure you do a research and consider the following criteria:

Length and Width are very important factors you need to take into consideration depending on the number of animals you need to transport. Make sure you have enough space to have an unobstructed view of the back of the trailer. If you decide to purchase a wide trailer you might need to install additional mirrors to make sure you have good visibility.

Roof Material is one of the key factors to maintain cool interior temperatures inside the livestock trailer in order to keep the animals comfortable. For example, fibreglass roofs can reduce the temperature in the trailer by 20 degrees. Aluminum roofs provide more protection against excess moisture. Floors are important as they need to prevent slipping.

Speaking of used livestock trailers for sale, dividers prevent livestock from making contact with each other during wicked curves in the road and sudden stops. That is why the material used in the construction of the divider has an important role ensuring the safety of the livestock. Barred, open and slatted dividers provide adequate ventilation which when combined with roof material determines the interior temperature. Walls should be insulated because insulation regulates extreme temperatures, humidity and reduces noise levels.
