Is the used truck for work?

Do we need a short bed or long bed?

Private Party: usually you will get a better deal here but you are not protected of misrepresented odometer readings. Usually they can give you a maintenance history, what the used truck was used for and weather or not it was mostly driven for highway use, off road, or just working in the city. Some people sell these vehicles for part time cash, so beware. inspect the vehicle thoroughly. Once you buy that vehicle you own it. So take your time.

Big Dealerships: Here you will usually be buying a trade in, leased used trucks, or vehicles from a auction. Most will have had the vehicle inspected and if it is good enough they will sell it as a certified pre-owned used truck. Most of the time they have BIG mark ups on these vehicles due to the many expensive s that are required to run their dealership. Advertising cost are off the charts for big dealerships. You can bet that those expenses are figured into the cost of the vehicle. You are protected against false odometer readings which is a good thing. They have a lot of inventory which will give you more selection. Sometimes you have the high pressure sales person that will do what ever it takes to make a commission and a sale. Read their reviews for issues with customers.

Small Used Truck Dealers: They have less overhead, less selection, and can usually find you a used truck in very little time. You are protected for false odometer readings. Less pressure from a sales rep and they are part of the local community trying to establish a good name for their business. Buy here pay here lots beware. They sell a lot of high mileage junk and could care less about the consumer. If you finance you want to rebuild your credit so make sure they report your payment history to the 3 major credit reporting agencies. Look for testimonials on their website.
