Budget holiday accommodation in the Blue Mountains is in high demand by large groups. By large groups numbers range anywhere from 9 to 30. There are very few holiday homes set up to accommodate such large numbers.
There are several holiday homes that can accommodate around 20 to 25 but if a larger group would have to consider a couple of houses side by side or a cluster of villas, townhouses or cabins.
In these tough economic times holidaymakers are looking to save by getting cheap accommodation. There are a number of properties offering rates which split amongst the group, will work out anywhere from $20 to $50 a night per person. (Incredibly cheap when you consider a YHA or Backpackers charge on average $28.50 per night per person and having to share a dormitory style room with 8 other people.)
Obviously rates will depend greatly on what time of the year. High season in the Blue Mountains of NSW, Australia begins early April (most popular at Easter) to the 1st week of November when the Rhododendron Festival is on at Blackheath.
Also from December 24th to January 30th it is high demand with Christmas, New Year and January School Holidays. The quietest month of the year is February when it is the hight of summer. (Traditionally people choose the Blue Mountains for the cold weather. I have been told by many, there is always this anticipation that it might just snow!)
During the summer months (outside school holidays) rates are the most negotiable when property owners will listen to offers. If wishing to save a few extra dollars some of the properties will allow 'bring your own linen' for a discount.
In Blackheath the best budget accommodation is without a the Blackheath Holiday Cabins (a cluster of cabins which can accommodate up to 50. Avonmore Cottages (2 cottages side by side) can sleep up to 22. Clanwilliam sleeps 13 people and Ellentree House is also very affordable during the summer months.
In Katoomba there are many budget holiday homes however Katoomba Townhouses, Echo Point Villas and Blue View represent some of the best value.
In Leura Sublime Lodge which can sleep up to 16 is great for the budget conscious. In Wentworth Falls the Blue Mountains Holiday House has fantastic views and is situated just across from Wentworth Falls Golf Club.
These holiday homes are some of the best budget accommodation in the Blue Mountains. When considering staying in a motel in the highway costs around $100 for 2 people, a large budget holiday house is a wise choice.
Wow, 28 dollars a night? Unbelievable! Sounds great!
