Paradiski is one of the most popular ski areas in France, and it's ideal if you are looking for last minute ski holidays this year. There are three resorts to choose from, all of which will provide you with a very different experience. Here is a guide to the resorts to help you decide which one to visit for your last-minute break.
La Plagne
There are many types of pistes to choose from in La Plagne, making it a great option if your group comprises different levels of skiers. It is especially suitable for intermediate skiers, and there are plenty of last minute ski holidays on offer. In total, there are 10 villages in the resort, all of which are linked and spread over a mountain. Some are more traditional villages, whereas some are purpose-built resorts. The numerous snow cannons guarantee good snow conditions, and there are many gondolas and high-speed chair lifts that will take you right up to the glacier. Plenty of chalets enable you to ski directly out of them, making them very convenient.
Peisey-Vallandry
Peisey-Vallandry consists of a number of villages, all of which have different characters. The villages of Vallandry and Plan-Peisey are the most popular - they sit at 1,600 metres, so the snow conditions are excellent. Many of the villages are also built in a traditional style, making them very quaint and authentic.
Plan-Peisey is a great option, because you can get on the Vanoise Express lift that goes from La Plagne to Les Arcs. There are many runs here for all abilities of skiers, with everything from beginner areas to black runs. There are also numerous restaurants and bars here to choose from, but it is not known for being as lively as some of the other resorts. However, if you are looking for last minute ski holidays somewhere quiet, this is a great option.
Les Arcs
Les Arcs is a purpose-built resort, and most of the accommodation options here are apartments. There are four villages to choose from, all of which are linked, and the most popular is Arcs 1800. There is a good mix of skiing available here for beginners and advanced skiers, and if you want to head off-piste you will find various options to choose from. (It is also linked to La Plagne, where you will find many more pistes.) Many runs are high - at over 2,000 metres - so the snow is very reliable. There are also plenty of bars and restaurants at Arcs 1800, which is known for being the liveliest of the villages.
