Prepare for Your First Scuba Dive With These Simple Tips

People who get their scuba certification can’t wait to jump into the open water and to experience everything for real.

That is completely understandable. However, you must also understand that before embarking on your first ever scuba dive, there are certain peculiarities which you must take under consideration if you want your adventure underwater to be completely safe.

Stick around to read to methods and precautions you must observe in order to be deemed a good diver.

Finding the Perfect Location

A lot of factors have to be considered to pick the right location, such as:

• Appeal

What makes the site worth and visit and what attractions it holds.

• Water Visibility

This mostly depends on the region and the climate but you don’t ever want to be in a place with limited visibility.

• Depth

Even experienced recreational divers are told to limit their diving at 130 feet. If you are relative beginner then you might want to stick to places with only 60 feet depth to avoid temptation.

• Temperature

There is nothing to stop from swimming in cold water as long as your body can handle it. But you might need to buy a suit that would allow you to better tolerate the temperature.

• Condition of the Water

You need to find out the water conditions because if the water current is too strong then there is a chance that you might be dragged away with it. Check the water condition every time you get ready to dive.

• Wildlife

The whole point of going underwater is to experience the local wildlife. But you might want to stick to regions where the wildlife is somewhat harmless or the situation can change dramatically.

Prepare Your Gear

Selecting and ensuring the proper operation of scuba gear for the water conditions is of utmost importance to the success and safety of the dive and for that you need to check:

• Wetsuit

As mentioned before, the thickness of the suit should be based on the temperature and same also hold true for hoodie, gloves and booties. The overall wetsuit should offer you great mobility.

• Fins

Fins allow you to overcome water resistance and allow you to travel more efficiently. You have a choice between getting strap on and shoe shaped fins. That decision should be based on what you find comfortable.

• Buoyancy Compensator Device

Buoyancy compensator device (or BCD) allows the diver to achieve neutral buoyancy underwater and provides assistance in ascending or descending.

• Weight Belt

Weight belt will help you counteract overall buoyancy of the diving equipment.

• Scuba Tanks

You need to ensure that the tanks are tailored to your specific dives as tanks needed for long and shorts dives need different preparations.

• Regulator

The main task of the regulator is to let the air out of the tanks in a slow and controlled manner. Therefore, never make a dive without it.

• Mask and/or Snorkel

The mask you use should be tempered for pressure and contains a nose enclosure.

• Knife

Knifes are completely optional but they can help you in a big way if you find yourself snagged in a fish net.

Entering the Water

After performing a final check of the suitability of the location and the functionality of the gear, you can prepare to enter the water. But before doing that, you need to determine how you will enter the water. You can either get in the water from a boat, in which case you will need to make sure that you don’t jump in rather gently submerge. Or you can walk in the water, in which case you will need to be careful of the surface you walk on.

Ultimately, your first diving experience will be as good as the location you choose to explore. You can opt for Indonesia and experience for yourself what crystal clear water of the country has to offer you. One of the best places to dive in Indonesia is the Island of Komodo. Book your adventure now to experience Komodo dragon safaris, liveaboard and wicked diving in komodo through the best diving center, Uber Scuba Komodo. For more information,
