Memories of Past Video Games
Most people who grew up in the 90's will admit that there was really nothing else to do except play video games. Kids these days are now able to play on the internet and so they will not know much about past video games. However, 90s video games will go down as memories that truly shaped our lives and it is often nice to look back and remember the games that had us playing all throughout the day. Games like the Golden Axe Series and Starcraft would help us get through the day but here a few games that you most likely will remember.
Super Mario
Though some gamers would play Zelda for their adventure games, the best adventure game to play would have to be Super Mario. As simple as the game was, it was completely addictive to simply play the game. People from all over the world fell in love with the game and it help put Nintendo on the map. The original game has helped the character spawn multiple other releases in the futurel like Mario Kart, Mario Party and Mario 64. The character and story has grown over the years and is still being played on the newest Wii console.
Street Fighter
This was an arcade classic that was also an addiction at home. People will be known to have their own player and it was always fun to just sit at home after school and play until our thumbs were numbing. The game was a one on one fighting game and all you needed to do was press the buttons in certain combinations to attack. However, some people were very good at "button mashing" and these were the players that pressed all the buttons that they could. This game was also like the King of Fighters and they certainly resembled each other in style.
Golden Eye 007
This Nintendo 64 classic will go down as one of the original first person shooting games that really had people addicted. Though there were other games out there that had the first person shooting idea, this was the first to really master the art. I remember playing this game for about 2 to 3 years and it just never seemed to get old. If you are able to grab yourself a copy of the game, you will still realize why it was one of the best selling games of all time.
People will admit that the graphics of past video games were certainly not up to par to what kids get today but the concepts and creativity were certainly beyond their years. Most games today are replicas of what we had growing up and it seems like the originality is simply fading away. Gamers of the 90's were able to see the true creativity of the developers while most of the developers today will try to win fans over with amazing graphics. Though graphics certainly help with the overall experience, nothing beats the Super Mario and Street Fighter experiences that we had growing up in the 90's.
Some great names up there, I'll be writing an article like this with my own favorites at some point :) I find it hard to believe that there was anybody growing up in the 90's who did NOT like Super Mario. Its amazing how such a silly little story line and concept, has kept its charm for almost 30 years. Megaman was definitely one of my favorites, the classic series definitely is not as popular as the Mario story-line but they still release new versions on the Xbox live arcade from time to time!
