It seems as if more and more websites are now using video as a marketing tool to get the message of their website across to their visitors. Although, this can be a very beneficial tool, if used properly, it can also be unbeneficial if used the wrong way.
As with everything on the web, people are coming to a website seeking information or solutions to their problems. They are not coming to your site for the sole purpose of purchasing what ever you may have to offer.
This is where video can have a distinct advantage of offering a solution. If your website is about how to train your dog in obedience classes, then you could put together a short video of dog obedience training and offer your visitor a chance to purchase your dog obedience course you have put together. This could be either a series of videos on a membership site, an e-book or an offer through an affiliate link that you are promoting.
In your video, do not make it a long drawn out sales letter. No one wants to sit and watch a ten or twelve minute sales pitch and then when you get to end of the video it is not what they want. When this happens your visitor to your website will leave that immediately.
Video can be used in a great many ways, training, educating, and yes, even selling a product. For more information to see have videos are being used, go to one of the video sites, type in any subject you like in their search engine, you will find someone has taken the time to produce a video of that subject. You can get a load of ideas just from searching some of the video sites.
When you put your video together, keep it short and to the point. Remember, people are looking for information and solutions. When someone visits your site you only have about thirty seconds to convince them to stick around. Video is no different. If you can't offer then a solution, they will be gone in no time.
Start your video out by stating what problem you are going to be able to solve. Example: Dog jumping up on visitors when they come to your home. Show your visitors a few teasers on how to cure this problem. As you go on with your video you can offer them your solution on how to correct this problem. Don't sell to them right off the bat. If you are making an educational video, make it something useful that people can use. Example: How to set up a blog.
Remember, offer a solution to a problem and you will have a ton of return visitors to you site. Make video work to your advantage and don't abuse it.
