BAL SAKHA
Bal Sakha in partnership with Tata Institute of Social Sciences - School of Vocational Education is a Registered Non-Governmental Organisation working with Homeless, Helpless Labouring/working and delinquent (Juvenile) children of the state of Bihar & Jharkhand since 1984. The main objective of the organisation is the rehabilitation and mainstreaming of children in distress with a vision to create a child friendly environment.
Another important objective of the organization is to strengthen the structure for the implementation of the Juvenile Justice Law. We work with the judiciary and other duty bearers for the proper functioning of the same. Bal Sakha is working together with the Government, Police force, other Non-Governmental Organization and optimistic people having positive thoughts for the protection of the rights and welfare of the children.
In this regards Bal Sakha has joined hands with Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai to build a cadre of young and committed individuals working in the field of child rights and development. The following two bachelor level UGC and AICTE Programmes/ Courses are as follows:
1. Bachelor of Vocational Education (B.Voc) in Early Child Development (3 yrs).
2. Bachelor of Vocational Education (B.Voc) in Child Protection (3 yrs)
Both the courses are 3 years full time programmes with work integrated curriculum and multiple entry & exit system. They are as per the UGC Norms and are aligned to National skill qualification frame (NSQF) level 5, 6, and 7. The diploma and degree certificate will be awarded jointly by TISS (in capacity of a deemed University) and all India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The Learning centre (HUB) will provide placement assistance to the students. The main advantage of the TISS-SVE programme is the provision of Multiple Entry and Exit System. Students also gets to work in a reputed organization as trainee and complete 360 hrs of on field practices each semester. This combination make this course equally viable for Fresher as well as working professionals.
Prospects:
As far as Indian scenario is concerned professional social workers can be found in direct practice in administrative, management and policy planning positions in various Government and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) as well as in government ministries. International organizations too are socially aware and hence a number of opportunities are available in international social work. Industrial and commercial units too are looking to hire social workers. A degree or diploma in Social Work is creating a large number opportunities for the millions of Indian youth in various sectors.
Students completing degree courses from institutes like Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) is generally preferred and gets higher salary at the beginning.
Eligibility: Applicants are required to have a minimum academic qualification-12th Pass or equivalent for this course. Last date: 3 July 2015
