It is expected that creative professionals can easily think of great design ideas. People think that a logo artist's brain should always be brimming with unique and innovative ideas or concepts. What people don't realize that all designers are also normal human beings just like the rest of us. Many a times, logo professionals do have creative blocks.
This does not imply that they intentionally stop thinking creatively. When a brand logo design project needs to be delivered, graphic artists have more reasons to worry than anybody else.
In such times, when designers are falling short of unique ideas, the following strategies might prove beneficial.
Taking A Tour of Intriguing Design
Designs that are already famous can serve as good sources of inspiration. Taking inspiration doesn't however mean that you start copying ideas after ideas. Take a tour of some inspirational sites, and try to think of ideas that might match the logo of the client you are designing for. At least, this should be the approach of any professional offering quality logo design solutions.
Focus on The Alphabets of The Company Name
The company you are designing for has some alphabets. Focus on them as that will help you come up with good ideas. You can also change the font styles so that it matches with the theme of the business.
What Your Competitors Are Doing?
When you have a creative block, this is the best strategy to adopt. Yes, studying designs of competitors will help you. Looking at such logos will update you about the latest trends or styles. It will let you understand what elements should be excluded in the logo. Design components that have already been used by your competitors should be avoided.
For example, if the 'swoosh' style has already been implemented, then you should not include it in the design. That's because designs that are already famous or trendy can never become memorable. Creating similar designs like that of competitors will fail to establish brand appeal. The logo will end up looking too identical.
Think about Interesting Catch Phrases
Even after a lot of sketching, your creative juices might not flow. You cannot think of innovative designs. What should you do in such a situation? Simple, just stop thinking about design, and focus more on taglines or catch phrases. You might be wondering how ! The following pointers will help you out:
- Think of the activities of the company you are designing for.
- What does it specialize in?
- What are the unique selling points of that company?
- Is the business too formal, or it caters to the entertainment industry?
If you get answers to the above, half your battle is won. Think of words, adjectives or phrases that best establishes the brand. For example, if it is a famous movie channel, then a tagline such as “Taking Cinema Places !” can be a good one.
If you are offering brand logo design services, then follow the above mentioned strategies. Have some queries? Comment, if you like.
