Your Blog Website Host: Free Or Paid

The blog has become an important tool to internet marketers. It can establish your personal brand, help you build relationships, capture email addresses for a mailing list and keep your search engine rankings from slipping because you can easily add fresh content. But with so many hosting options available, what is the best platform for you?

Free sites I'm sure costs are important to everyone. Blogger, Weebly, Wordpress.com or Jimdo are a few sites that have free hosting for your blog website. If you do a Google search for free blogging sites you will find many more. All these sites have advantages and disadvantages. Some will let you host blogs on your own domain names at a nominal charge. Some will have interfaces and skins than are more pleasing to you than others. Some, have numerous plug-ins that make life easy for bloggers, some like Weebly have a "drag and drop" design feature and the capability to set up an e-store, while some like Google's Blogger enable you to monetize with Google Adsense ads, Infolinks in-text ads, and Amazon with just a few clicks.

I like free website blogs because I can use them for different purposes such as landing pages or to write short articles that provide backlinks. I can put up as many as I wish. I can choose to monetize them with ads or not, and I can also experiment with different types of content and focuses. If i don't like them, I can easily delete them without being out-of-pocket for a domain name.

Paid hosting You may want to consider a paid hosting service. Many are quite inexpensive and start for as little as $4 a month (depending on which features you chose) and offer live technical support. I have a plan that costs about $10 a month. Many of the hosting companies (some popular ones are Bluehost, Hostgator and Go Daddy) offer you enough disk "real estate" to put up numerous blogs, provided you have purchased your own domain names. You have the freedom to do what you want with those domain names and are not just restricted to one blog platform.

In the C-panel (control panel), hosting services provide "scripting" programs (Fantastico, for example), or a "quick-install" that enable you to add different blogging software or content management software in just minutes to your own domain. You'll have to search around for your own themes to use, or use the default themes that are given.

Another hosting option is to join The Wealthy Affiliate University, a training site for Internet marketers. The membership fee includes hosting, and it has a service called WordPress Express, which enables you to set up (including some key plugins) in as little as 60 seconds (after you have purchased a domain name). Watch out though, for membership sites that charge outrageous fees, and then tell you the hosting is extra.

Now-a-days, there are many options for setting up website blogs. I like using all the options I mentioned including free and paid hosting including the service available with the Wealthy Affiliate University.
