Sometimes a tip is so simple it just gets missed totally. For instance, don’t walk along a busy road on a rainy day or you might get soaked. Simple, but you would be shocked by how many soaking wet walkers you see every single day. Another example: use your favorite flowers for the bridal bouquet. This is your wedding day, the day that is supposed to make you feel special, the center of attention. You have a beautiful dress, glowing makeup and satiny, pointy-toed princess shoes. Why shouldn’t you have the flowers that make you happiest?
If you have always grown up loving the simplicity of a daisy; a true, dyed in the wool, daisy girl, then the main flowers in your bridal bouquet should be, by all means the daisy. Don’t let the wedding planner, the maid of honor, or heaven forbid, your mother, talk you out of the choice. Daisies are simple, elegant and can be beautifully arranged in an elegant bouquet. (Another bonus, daisies are generally cheaper than other floral choices.) Daisies look best when they are not surrounded or packed in too tightly. Consider a loosely gathered bunch of daises tied with a simple, gingham or grosgrain ribbon that coordinates with the wedding colors.
If you would like a more exotic flower, however, choices abound. Consider the fragrant paper-white gardenia surrounded by dainty sprigs of freesia. Not only will the bouquet be elegantly understated, it will smell like a tropical version of heaven. If you do choose such fragrant flowers, then spray a little less of your perfume for that morning or you may overwhelm your bridal party.
Of course, the rose is one of the most traditional flowers used in the bridal bouquet. Make sure that when selecting your roses, you take into account the wedding colors, and your own color preferences.
Many of the rose colors play well with each other and can be carried as a single long stem, or as a full bunch. Roses and exotics are more expensive than the other choices and do not last as long. If you truly love your bridal bouquet, consider having a silk version made or have yours professionally preserved. In some cases, it is possible to take the bouquet home and treat the cut ends so that they will root. Given the right care and conditions you will have a living reminder of your happy day.
