After the decisions are made about where to have your wedding, what kind of gown to wear and who the bridal party will be, the really fun decision gets to be made: where should you go on your honeymoon? Of course, considerations like time of the year, budget and the interests and hobbies of the couple will narrow down some of the choices. Whether or not you choose to use a travel agent or make your own arrangements might play some role in the decision as well.
With or without a travel agent there are a few things to keep in mind when deciding where to go for your honeymoon. These consideration are:
1. Budget. It’s tough out there, especially for a couple that is just starting out. Make sure that you do not overextend yourselves on your honeymoon and then have to come back to reality with nothing at all.
2. Know your limitations and own endurance. If you get jetlag just reading a travel brochure, then a worldwide excursion is probably not the best idea for you. If on the other hand you find yourself relishing a little bit of adventure, there are budget friendly trips to satisfy even the most curious of travelers.
3. Work together as a team to come up with the best honeymoon, even if that means you must both make some compromises. Even the best couples argue and disagree, but it should not be about the honeymoon. Discuss what your dream has always been and see how close you can come for a blend of the two.
4. Make all of the necessary arrangements as soon as possible, especially if you are handling the details on your own. Not only will that give you one less thing to worry about, you will also find that you get early booking bonuses and other perks.
5. If you are using a travel agent, make sure that the agency spells out exactly what kind of services they will provide, the fee involved and cancellation policies. Also, make sure that the individual agent is listening to you, not trying to push a set number of package deals down her customers’ throats.
The whole point of the honeymoon is to have fun and get away from it all. The planning of the ceremony and the wedding itself was probably a major stress, so make the honeymoon all about relaxation and revitalization.
