Weight Loss: Carb Style Vs Calorie Style

So you came to this page looking for answers to your weight loss questions huh? Well good, I have some for you!

To begin with let me suggest that everyone find out how much they weigh and also find out how many calories you need a day to maintain your current weight. After that Weight loss will be a snap.

*Just as an disclaimer all findings and facts presented below are based on the writers experience with weight loss and may not be applicable to everyone*

I have talked to a lot of people about weight loss and the one common mistake I see amongst them is their faulty belief systems.

The first belief is that you can not change your physique, or that it is too late for you. Let me begin by saying, it is never too late to change your physique. The truth is there are a lot of people who may not have the perfect body, but that is okay. With the right mental attitude you can change your body into something phenomenal.

The second belief is that this will be easy. Im sorry if you want easy go to Burger King, order a number one sit down in front of your T.V. and call it a day. You must realize that anything worth having requires determination, persistence and most importantly.... sacrifice. Yes, you must be willing to sacrifice your old lifestyle for a brand new one.

It irks me to my core that there are so many weight loss programs that sell people the dream that you can lose a significant amount of weight and maintain it, without doing any work to yourself.....Once again I must apologize and say no. You want this change, be willing to do the WORK!

Okay okay enough fluff onto the good stuff, if you want to lose weight there are two methods that I have found to work for me. The quick way(lower your carbs) or the slow way(lower your calories).

Each of these methods have their pro's and con's, but both will yield results.

Lower Carbs

Lower carbs, yet they taste really good. Yes the one thing we love to eat, the one thing besides fat that we love to devour is the good old fashion carbohydrate. I must be honest though carbs are a necessary part of your diet the only problem is the type of carbs you ingest.

Good carbs: Are the carbs such as: Sweet potatoes, carrots, lettuce, brown rice, whole wheat bread and fruits.

Bad carbs: Sweets, cakes, white potatoes, white rice, white bread, and anything refined in an lab.

What is the difference? Good carbs fuels your body with good energy as well as build your body up, while bad carbs spike your insulin which results in fat storage as well as health issues later on in life.

Good carbs digest slower which means it take longer to burn off, this energy is slowly released through out the day and helps maintain your blood sugar. Bad carbs digest quickly and give you a quick burst of energy which usually tapers off quickly causing you to crash.

Method of eating carbs: You should get most of your carbs early in the morning and before 2 pm, these should be of the slower digesting variety. The reason is carbs supply you with energy and unused energy will turn to fat. You use the bulk of your energy in the beginning of your day and as the day winds down so should your carb intake. Simple right? Great.

You should aim for about 100-150 grams of carbohydrates per day. Anything lower will cause you to burn fat very rapidly and could lead to ketosis which is the poising of your blood. *Following this style could cause you to become very tired and irritable like me THAT'S WHY I PREFER.)

The Low Calorie style of weight loss.

This style works on the principle of energy out versus energy in.

Fat could be thought of as potential energy or stored energy. Through exercise and proper nutrition you will begin to burn more calories than you take in. The great thing about this is every type of exercise from running to weight loss burns energy. This in combination with less energy placed within your body leads to a powerful result.

The good thing about calories in versus calories out is that you can still enjoy all the food that you love just not in the same portions and not as much of it as you like. I would still suggest that the bulk of your calories come from nutrient dense sources(whole grains, fruits, vegetables, dairy, lean meats as well as a few treats here and there).

Either style you choose will give you the desired results of weight loss, but you must understand that this will not be an amazingly quick process, you must be willing to give it time. It took you time to put on the weight... it will take time to take it off. Goals, goals, goals ladies and gents in order for life to work efficiently you must have them. Start small...Dream Big
