Are You Suffering From Vitamin B12 Deficiency?

Not many people actually suffer from a vitamin B12 deficiency unless they have a condition such as Crohns disease, diabetes when medication can cause problems or a particular form of anemia.

Vegans and vegetarians who are not looking after their diet can suffer from a lack of B vitamins and most women find that by increasing the quantity of B vitamins in their diet their moods and PMT are much easier to manage. So what does Vitamin B 12 do anyway? It helps to promote, among other things, a healthy nervous system. It also aids in the growth and development of various organs in your body.

The proper way for testing for any vitamin deficiency is via a blood test. Don't go taking any supplements until your doctor has confirmed that you need them as you do not want to overdose your body. Even good vitamins can be harmful in the wrong quantities.

There are simple ways to increase the amount of B vitamins you get through your diet. Eating a proper whole grain breakfast made with either bread or cereal is a good start. Lean quality meat, organic eggs and full fat dairy products also provide a useful source of B vitamins as well as other essential components of a healthy eating plan.

Don't waste your dollars buying seaweed or algae for their potential B vitamins as although they contain them, the human body cannot convert this source. It is vitally important that you do not self diagnose as you could be misreading your symptoms. For example putting on weight and being tired can be signs of an underlying thyroid problem but they are more likely to be lifestyle related. While you may feel too tired to exercise, lack of exercise leads to tiredness and apathy.

Too many people think that all their problems can be sorted by reaching for a bottle of pills at the health food store but this is not the case. Nothing can make up for the problems caused by poor diet and lack of physical activity. Not only do you risk becoming obese and developing major health problems but your brain also suffers. Regular exercise keeps you young, keeps your muscles supple and healthy and prevents a lot of disease. If you try following a gentle program of exercise combined with a healthy eating plan such as the Fat Smash diet you will be amazed at the changes you will see in your life. You don't need to go to fitness bootcamp or even send the children to kids fitness bootcamp. It just helps to speed things up so you see results faster.
