Best Cereals Weight Loss

I would like to share my views on the best cereals weight loss. I must be honest and tell you at this point that I thought I was clued up on this topic, but while doing my research I actually learned a lot of interesting facts that I will hopefully share with you in this article.

What are cereals?

I like Wikipedia's definition of a cereal which I have shortened to: " A cereal is a grass, cultivated for the edible components of their grain." In an unprocessed form they remain "whole grains" and are rich in Proteins, Vitamins, Minerals, Fats, Natural Oils and slow releasing carbohydrates. The problem is, once they have been refined they lose most of their goodness and leave you with mainly carbohydrates.

Cereals you should eat:

Top of my list is oats, some people prefer the term rolled oats. Oats from my own experience is the most nutritious and energy producing cereal. What makes it such a good weight loss food is that oats also contain more soluble fiber than any other grain but it is high in calories so this can only be your choice if you are exercising. Wheatabix, you can never go wrong with this great product. Other good cereals are All Bran, Shredded Wheat and Special K are most of the good ones.

What to beware of:

When choosing a cereal, make sure that you look at the ingredients. There are so many products that make false claims and beware of sugar content. Also look at the sweeteners that may be used in these products as some of them contain aspartame which is preferably a no-no in your choice of sweeteners. Some cereals are higher in fat than others but you also need to see for yourself how you feel after trying some of these products. Having eaten my cereal of choice

Nutritional information and you:

Remember that we are all different. This makes the way we metabolize, and the benefits we derive from cereals are not always the same. To a certain extent you need to go with some trial and error here. If you try something and 30 minutes later you are still hungry then I would recommend trying something else.I wouldn't be to scared of Carbohydrate content within reason, if you exercise in the mornings. I want to feel a renewed sense of energy and strong all morning after a tough early morning workout!

What should you expect from a cereal:

I look for three or four things when choosing a cereal. I need it to be rich in nutrients. I am expecting a long but even energy release which most low GI products should offer. I like to know that I am going to feel "full" within reason after I have eaten and lastly, the taste can help influence my decision. Lastly it must not be fattening.

Hi Chris! Great information. Personally, I've cut out cereals except for oats. I can control the ingredients I choose to add to it such as the type of sweetener. Great work. Keep it up. Cheers!
