Bad Foods

The first thing i'd like to warn you about is 'whole grains', This includes whole grain bread, bagels, pasta, and more, You probably know that refined grains like white bread and pasta are bad for you... but you probably think that “whole grains” are good for you and can help you to lose fat. This could'nt be any further from the truth i'm afraid and is one of the main things holding you back in your weight loss journey.

Grains are very cheap to grow and harvest compared to other crops, the big food conglomerates know this and are capitalizing on the market by offering many foods as 'healthy and good for you',

The first problem with whole grains is that many whole grain breads and cereals will still raise your blood sugar fairly high and quickly, which stimulates an insulin spike, and then triggers you to have cravings for carbohydrate rich foods later on in the day.

Looking at the bigger picture, you inadvertently eat more calories in a week!

Another issue with whole grain products is that they are still calorie-dense with a lower amount of nutrients compared to some other options. In addition, a large portion of the population have some degree of intolerence to gluten, which is found in high amounts in wheat and some other grains.

Anither food that you have sadly been decieved about is soy, Some of the biggest offenders in the industry are soymilk, tofu, and soy protein products. Soy is a big multi-billion dollar industry and their goal here is to use clever marketing to fool you into thinking that these highly processed soy products are actually healthy for you, so you buy more of them thinking you're doing your body good when in reality it is the exact opposite.

The problem with soy is that it contains hugely concentrated amounts of phytoestrogens which is way higher than you body would ever recieve naturally, these cause your body to hold onto belly fat. one of the other major problems with soy is that it is one of the most genetically modified crops in the world and also one of the crops containing the highest pesticide/herbicide residue percentage. Many pesticides and herbicides that get inside your body actually act as something called xenoestrogens which contribute to the condition known as "stubborn belly fat". They make your body want to hold onto belly fat as long as possible and make it particularly hard to burn off.

Good Foods

Now the good stuff, foods that help you get rid of stubborn belly fat and actually keep it off!

1. Whole Eggs,

including the yolk, not just egg whites - Many people already know that eggs are one of the highest quality sources of protein. However, what a lot of people don't know is that the egg yolks are the healthiest part of the egg... that's where almost all of the vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants (such as lutein) are found in eggs.

Mnay so-called 'fitness pros' would have you believe that you should eat the egg white only and not the yolk, they could'nt be more wrong!

Egg Yolks have more than 90% of the calcium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, thiamin, B6, folate, and B12, and panthothenic acid of the egg. Additionally, the yolks contain all of the fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K in the egg, as well as all of the essential fatty acids (EFA'S). The protein of whole eggs is more bio-available than egg whites alone due to a more balanced amino acid profile that the yolks help to build.

In fact, egg whites are almost completely devoid of micronutrients compared to egg yolks.

Essentially, all of the extra nutrition (micro-nutrients) as well as healthy fats that you get from the egg yolks helps to control your appetite, balance fat-burning hormones, and actually help you to burn body fat! So don’t believe all of these clueless “professionals” telling you to remove the yolks.

Just make sure to choose free-range organic eggs instead of normal store bought eggs. Similar to the grass-fed beef scenario, the nutrient content of the eggs and the balance between healthy omega-3 fatty acids and inflammatory omega-6 fatty acids (in excess) is controlled by the diet of the hens.

2. Grass-fed beef or bison (not shop bought)

Most people are of the opinion that red meat is unhealthy for you but that is because they do not really understand that the health of the animal effects how good the meat is for your consumption,

Typical beef that you see at the store is raised on grain… mostly corn, and sometimes soy too. Soy and corn are not the natural diet of cattle, and therefore makes changes to the chemical balance of fats and nutrients in the beef. Cattle are meant in nature to just eat grass and forage, so the practice of feeding cattle grains causes digestive problems in the cattle (A main cause of e-coli!), making the cattle sick, which most times requires the use of antiobiotics in the cattle.

On the other hand, grass-fed beef from cattle that were raised on the type of natural foods that they were meant to eat in nature, have much higher levels of healthy omega-3 fatty acids and lower levels of inflammatory omega-6 fatty acids (that most people already eat too much of) compared to grain fed beef.

Not only that, but grass-fed meat from healthy cattle also contain a healthy fat called conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) in much higher levels than grain-fed meat. In fact, when cattle are fed grains instead of grass, the healthy CLA fat almost disappears from the meat.

3. Avocodos

Even though these are typically thought of as a "fatty food", it is all healthy fats! Not only is this fruit (yes, avocados are classed as a fruit) super-high in healthy

monounsaturated fat, but also full of vitamins, minerals, micro-nutrients, and antioxidants. They’re also a great source of fiber.

4. Nuts: Walnuts, Almonds, Pecans, Macadamia, etc

This is yet another "fatty food" that will help you burn fat. Although nuts are generally between 75-90% fat in a ratio of fat calories to total calories, this is another type of food that is completely healthy fats, along with high levels of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Nuts are also a good source of fiber and protein, which helps to control blood sugar and can aid fat loss.

Nuts also help to maintain good levels of fat burning hormones in your body as well as helping to control appetite and cravings so that you basically eat less calories overall, even though you're taking in a high-fat food.

A good sneaky tip to use when wanting to burn off some excess fat is to increase the amount of calories you consume from nuts by eating a good handful 25-30 mins before you eat, therefore keeping you fuller for longer.

By eating a range of nuts in variety such as pecans. pistachios, almonds, cashew and walnuts, you help to improve the types of vitamins and minerals and also the balance of polyunsaturated to monounsaturated fats you obtain.

Try to find raw nuts instead of roasted nuts if you possible, as it helps to maintain the quality and nutritional content of the healthy fats that you eat.
