Can Obese Pregnant Women Safely Shed Pounds--breaking News

It is probably a common question asked by pregnant women who are obese. Can obese pregnant women safely shed pounds? In this article we’re going to be looking at that exact question whether indeed this can happen, can it be done safely and if so HOW.

The journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology state that it is possible for pregnant women to lose weight safely without harming themselves or their baby.

Having said that, researchers still maintain that women not start any diet program until they’ve confirmed this with their Doctor.

The institute of Medicine advisory board state that obese women should gain between 10-20 pounds during pregnancy.

Some studies have shown that some women who are severely obese can shed some weight during pregnancy without harming themselves or their baby.

In a new study by Dr. Marie Blomberg from the University of the of Linkoping in Sweden, found records of more than 46,000 obese women who had given birth between 1993 and 2008.

They found that babies born to very obese women, were just as healthy as were ones born to mothers who gained the recommended weight.

The study also found that babies born of obese women were no more likely to go into fetal distress then babies born whose mothers were not obese.

Blomberg stated that is was ok for obese women to lose some weight, however, just how much wouls be safe is still not clear.

Blomberg also found that the most of obese women (a BMI of 40 or more) , that lost weight were twice as likely to give birth to a baby who would be predominantly small for it's gestational age.

It seems that is is safe for pregnant women to lose some weight but the exact amont is not clear yet. These studies are in their early stage. This subject will be a HOT debate I would assume. Because this is such a sensitive time, when a woman is pregnant, all caution has to be taken for the health and well-being for the mother and the baby.

It is mentioned that this should be maintained by an expectant mother;

  1. Eat Healthy: Eat your fresh food, your fruit and veggies, drink lots of water too.
  2. Exercise: Try and do some light exercise, it could be just vacuuming the home, or a little walk down the road.
  3. Don't Smoke: This is a no no.
  4. Alcohol: This is a delicate one, it is recommended not to consume alcohol it would be better to wait until your baby is born to have a drink.

Cannot Believe This....

Now, this is very distressing, just found this one, I cannot believe anyone would even consider this, listen to this;

It is now stated that a trial in th UK is giving obese mothers a drug for diabestes called, "metformin" to stop obese mothers having overweight babies. My opinion is, what happened to the natural way of doing things. These unborn babies have no say in what is being done to them.

This is unbleievebable and people should lobby to stop this sort of ridiculous suggestion.

We should all look at diet from a natural perspective and at all times seek professional advice before undertaking any change to our lifestyle and or eating habits. Especially when pregnant.

There are some great weight loss sites some about losing belly fat, some on exercising to lose weight, it's good to do some research and see what's on offer.
