Chlorella A Superfood That Speeds Up Weight Loss Naturally

If you are frustrated with how long it takes to shed pounds, there is an answer. One of the ways to speed up your weight loss is to add chlorella to your diet. Chlorella is a single-celled fresh water algae also known as a superfood which is loaded with vitamins, minerals,enzymes and protein. While mainstream medicine has been slow to embrace its benefits, there is plenty of research to support chlorella's effectiveness as a weight loss tool.

Lose the Fat

For example, studies show that chlorella can help reduce adipogenesis, the process whereby fat cells or adipocytes develop from preadipocytes. In a 2009 study published in the "Annals of the New York Academy of Science," scientists found that chlorella also induces apoptosis or programmed cell death in preadipocytes. Still another study compared a group of healthy adults with one that is high risk for life style diseases. After 16 weeks, results showed significant reductions in both body fat and cholesterol in both groups after daily ingestion of chlorella.

Blood Sugar

Several studies show that chlorella helps balance blood sugar. One of these compared groups of rats which received either no chlorella or diets with either 5% or 10% chlorella. The 10% chlorella diet did a better job of regulating glucose than the 5% diet suggesting that chlorella may be helpful in preventing insulin resistance. A similar result was found in a human study in which the scientists found significant reductions in fasting glucose levels after taking chlorella and determined that chlorella may have an effect on insulin signaling pathways.

No More Cravings

Chlorella's ability to help manage blood sugar helps reduce cravings which come from hypoglycemia. According to Mike Adam's book Superfoods for Optimum Health: Chlorella and Spirulina, this may be due in part to its high protein content as well as its healthy amounts of magnesium. If you have ever craved chocolate, you are probably magnesium deficient. Ultimately eating less sugary junk food will end your cravings; and chlorella will help you get there.

Detox

Chlorella is also know for being a detoxifier. It is a green product which helps shift your pH balance to alkaline. It also has significant amounts of fiber which help clean out your intestines. As you detox you help heal inflammation. Since inflammation encourages fat retention, when it goes fat can begin to come off.

We all know that losing weight requires eating fewer calories, and we all know this can be a real challenge. Chlorella supplements are a type of superfood which helps create an environment in your body that lets you lose weight with greater ease.
