Does Your Scale Lie To You, Also?

There are a couple ways your scale can be lying to you. You could of done everything right. You could of met your goal weight but is it too low of a goal weight. Your scale won't tell you. You could of missed your monthly weight loss goals by a couple lbs, but your scale won't tell you if you gained healthy muscle weight. Relying on just your scale to let you know if your at a healthy weight is not a good practice to follow.

If you have hit your weight loss goals, your scale could still be lying to you . Lets say your goal was to get down to 130 lbs. According to your scale you have reach it. Can there still be a problem? Yes very much so. Being too skinny can cause you to have medical health problems. I have been down to 130 lbs before, but that was not a good weight for me. The one thing the scale does not show is if it a healthy weight for you.

When I was at 130 I looked way too skinny. Because of my normal built, being at such a low weight, took a lot of my muscle mass away. This left my arms and legs looking scrawny and bony. Sure my stomach was flat and I loved it. However, looking back at how the rest of my body looked I was quite disappointed. Before relying on what the average weight should be for your height, speak with a professional. This way you can ensure the weight you are aiming to get to, is a healthy number for you to be at.

I go through my morning routine and then prepare to weight myself. According my measurements I lost a couple inches in my hips and waist, so I’m excited to see what my new weight is. Either my scale or my measuring tape is lying to me. How is it possible that after working out for a month, losing inches off my body, having my clothes fit a lot looser, and the scale only saying a lost a couple lbs. Well I could either thrown it away while calling it some inappropriate names or I can take a lot at the past month and myself and see why my scale is showing only a little loss.

1. How much muscle mass did you gain vs fat lbs lost?

2. Did you hit a plateau?

3. Did you weigh yourself first thing in the morning before eating breakfast?

4. Are you weighing yourself correctly?

5. Do you honestly have more weight to lose.

Ever since I can remember I’ve had my dad’s built. Not manly but athletic. Not skinny but fit and able to easily built muscle. LOL, this is something that gets to my husband. He once said it’s sad that I have better arm muscles then him. I take it in good nature and told him in return, “Our kids have to get their muscles from someone”. When I weigh myself, I have to keep in mind how much of that weight is from muscle. Now I’m not saying use the old “muscle weighs more then fat” excuse. What I’m saying is before you yell at yourself or get discouraged, be kind to yourself. Look at all the options as to why the scale might be showing such a small weight loss.

Your scale can’t accurately tell you the reasons behind small weight loss or if you’re weighing yourself correctly. Make sure you weigh yourself in the first thing in the morning after you use the bathroom and before you eat or drink anything. Wear lightweight clothes and avoiding having on jewelry or any other heavy objects on you or in your pockets. If you’re still not happy with the number, then look into some of the other options as to why. It’s important to get fit and healthy, but taking it to the extreme can cause you to still be unhealthy.
