If you have ever tried to lose weight in the past. Or maybe you're currently trying to lose weight. Than you will have experienced having a bad day. You know what I mean, your watching what eat, your exercising, getting enough sleep, trying to work out with friends and you still seem to have bad days. Your sitting there having supper with your family or spouse your thinking about not eating to much. When next thing you know your finished your supper, feeling full and bloated, wondering why you ate so much.
A lot of this comes down to your routine. Losing weight is not going to be an instant fix. You need to make the change and stick with it. Your going to have bad days and fall off the wagon. The trick is to get back up and follow your routine and support team. You can only control what you do today. Take it one day at a time.
Remember your end goal and what you are trying to change. You don't have to give up all the great foods you enjoy in life. You do need to regulate your food by eating healthy for the week. Get the proper amount of fruits and vegetables as well as protein and fiber. Protein and fiber are most important in the morning because they don't allow your metabolism to slow down. Staying on track all week will allow you to have one cheat day on the weekend. Just try not to over do it and eat uncontrollably.
By writing your goals down in a journal it will help you keep on track. You'll be able to see where you've been and where your going in your weight loss. By tracking where you fall off course you'll be able to right the ship and prepare yourself.
Taking before pictures is a great way to watch your progress. By looking at your old pictures you'll work harder to not go back to that person. Then once you reach your target weight take an after picture, because looking at where you have come from to where you are now will make you feel incredible.
Your goals and before pictures should be taped to your mirror that you use everyday. This way you have a visual reminder of what your goal is everyday. This will also help you from having those melt downs in your weight loss.
Living a healthier life is definitely a very important part of your transformation as well as having a strong support behind you of friends and family. Your support staff will make it easier for you to bounce back when you have those bad days. Try breaking out of your comfort zone and join an activity( walking group, running, badminton, mountain biking, etc.
The key to losing weight is limiting your intake of certain foods, but not giving up these foods entirely. If you eliminate these foods entirely your more likely to have bad days and eat uncontrollably. Also remember its best to have bad foods earlier in the day. To give your body a chance to burn the calories off.
Thanks Cynthia, It's hard eating healthy when your on the go, Bringing some nuts along with you or may be a hard boiled egg for some more protein........
Brian, Thanks - good article! Hmm. Today so far I ate a oatmeal with raisins. A pear. A frozen banana. Oops! No protein. I'll grab some raw almonds for another snack soon to fix that:-) blessings, Cynthia
Thanks Joan, It's a challenge for me too. Trying to keep on track with all my allergies. Diary, all nuts, fish, possible wheat and gluten allergies. Giving up refined sugar is what I'm trying to do too. No refined or processed anything is best.
Hey Brian, sometimes the problem is addiction to certain food groups, often related to allergies. If you are allergic to a food, you tend to crave it. Then there is carb addiction. I'm handling that one now by allowing simple carbs one meal a day, but 1/3 the meal, and I've given up refined sugar. It's scientific and works very well. You're so right about proteins stabilizing your metabolism. Important to have a good breakfast. Thanks for the good article.
Keep writing great articles Rob, I have some catching up to do.
The hitting the wall factor, I remember reading another authors article about the sudden stop, and wonder how many give up at this point. I think if one keeps on at it you break past the point where the body stops using stored reserves and then one looses again. Good article though!
Thanx Rob, I have battled my weight for years. Whenever I lost 20lbs I always gain it back. One bad day always turns in to three or four in a row. Just trying to eat more healthy and limit my bad days.
Well good on you Brian, perseverance will win in the end, keep on at it. and good luck.
