Eating Nuts Will Help You Lose Weight

Did you know eating only nuts all day long will help you lose weight? Well, not quite. But, interesting new research is suggesting that certain properties of nuts may be beneficial for weight loss in addition to healthy dieting. Nuts are filled with energy and are mostly composed of fat, which is present in the form of mono-unsaturated fatty acids and poly-unsaturated fatty acids. These types of fat are much better than the saturated fat in many other foods. Nuts are also rich in fiber and have been shown to have beneficial effects on the heart.

Some scientists indicate that eating nuts on a regular basis is inversely related to coronary heart events and also with lower death rate. Research even shows that eating nuts can help prevent the development of diabetes in women and high blood pressure in men, and assists in lowering cholesterol. The benefits of adding nuts to your diet include reducing inflammation, decreasing insulin resistance, and a decrease in the risk for obesity.

Many people believe that consuming nuts regularly will lead to an increase in fat on the body. However, research suggests that body mass index is reduced with increase nut consumption. The best diet to follow is a Mediterranean style diet that includes lean protein, fiber rich vegetables, and good fat such as olive oil and nuts. People who follow this type of diet show significant health improvements and decrease in body weight over a short period of time. Research any scientific arena and you will find tips for weight loss that include eating more protein, more fiber, less bad fat and more good fat.

Why will eating nuts give me such amazing health benefits you may ask? It is possible that the fiber rich nuts have a filling effect and once consumed, they decrease the desire to eat further and decrease food cravings. Also, unsaturated fats like the ones in nuts are associated with less fat accumulation than saturated fats. Nuts are also rich in protein, and it is well known that protein is associated with fat reduction as well.

Besides the fact that nuts do not increase body fat and in fact are associated with a decreased body mass index, nuts protect the heart. Diets rich in nuts will protect the body from cardiovascular events, so if you are a person at risk, it may be beneficial to incorporate more nuts into the diet for optimal health benefits and weight loss.
