There is no doubt that exercise is a key component when you want to lose weight, but it turns out it is not the only reason to engage in daily physical activity. Most weight loss will come from making proper foods choices. But if you exercise for weight loss, new research shows that it will increase your chances of wanting to make healthier food choices.

So, if you want to exercise for weight loss here is what the research is showing. When you exercise it helps your brains inhibition controls strengthen so that you will be able to resist unhealthy food choices and instead make healthy ones. Another good reason to exercise for weight loss is that exercise makes your brain more aware of the signs of being full. Exercise increases the satiety hormone leptin which controls hunger. The more you exercise regularly, the more control you have over your appetite.

Your brain has many primary functions. One of them is inhibition control. This is the function that is supposed to keep unhealthy behaviors in check. It keeps you from going to the kitchen and eating everything in site just because it tastes good. And since we are bombarded by tempting food smells, sights, and sounds all day long, this particular brain function is strained every hour of the day, especially from television commercials.

If we eat over processed foods the brain is likely to become constricted, and like any improperly fed muscle, weaken and not be able to do one of it's jobs, which is to keep your reasoning sharp: to choose to eat properly and to feel full at the appropriate time. You won't be able to control impulsive actions like devouring all kinds of junk food!

But, if you exercise for weight loss and overall health, you will help your brain to strengthen this inhibition control. You will be able to resist junk food and make healthier choices. Exercise it seems makes your brain more aware that you have had enough food to eat.

There is far more to exercise for weight loss than just calories being burned. There are so many things going on in the body that have to be considered for weight loss efforts to be effective. There is no doubt that exercising well into later years is vital in order to maintain proper brain function. Without it you can't stay healthy! But what type of exercise for weight loss is best?

The best exercise to energize the fat metabolism process is interval exercise. Research confirms that exercising in a short burst followed by a brief rest period, and the process repeated for a least twenty minutes, is much more effective than the hour long steady pace on the treadmill, bike or elliptical.

This type of interval exercise produces increased levels of compounds in the body that help you burn more fat from under the skin and in your muscles. This is a better way to energize your fat burning furnace. High intensity exercising will engage muscle groups in an improved manner so that your body will naturally boost its production of human growth hormone. This is vital for health, longevity, and strength.

If your goal is to lose weight, and you want to exercise for weight loss, then you can be assured that if you do, you will gain the added benefit of helping yourself make healthier food choices.
